Alderkit was bristling with excitement. It was apprentice ceremony. He glances over to his sister, Nightkit, and wonders how is she always call through everything? The whole clan was gathered around the Rockpile all waiting for Smallstar to address the clan. As Alderkit heard his name called he was praying to Moonclan that his pelt wasn't shaking as he walked up to the foot of the Rockpile. "Alderpaw, do you swear to Moonclan to learn the ways of the Warrior Code and to train your very hardest to become a noble warrior of Fireclan?" Smallstar questioned.
"I do!"
"Then by the power of Moonclan, until you receive your warrior name you shall be known as, Alderpaw!" Smallstar stated loud and clear then repeated the sacred tradition to Nightkit.
"Nightpaw your mentor is Sharpfang, he is the strongest warrior in the Clan and Fireclan know he will be a great mentor to you."
"Alderpaw, your mentor is Lilysong. She will teach you the importance of patience, and strength, she will teach you well."
"I will Smallstar!" Lilysong exclaimed.
The apprentices touched noses with their new mentors, and the mentors told them they were going to explore the territory tomorrow, but tonight they needed to make their nests, eat, and get some rest.
"I'm so excited for tomorrow Alderpaw! We are going to see all of Fireclan territory!" Nightpaw told her brother.
"I'm excited too!" Alderpaw said less enthusiastically.
"Whats wrong?" Nightpaw asked her brother.
"I wanted Sharpfang as a mentor, Lilysong is too soft."
"Dont say that Alderpaw!", Nightpaw exclaimed, "Lilysong is going to be a great mentor, you'll see."
"I hope so because I hope to one day follow in Sharpfang's footsteps and become the next Clan deputy!" Alderpaw whispered to his sister, "I would be the best Clan leader Fireclan has ever seen!"
"Alderpaw, it's late and we have a big day tomorrow, we should go to bed." Nightpaw responded without meeting his gaze, "I'll see you at dawn."
