BONES AU - PART THREE "The Cannibal in Question"

CHAPTER ELEVEN

"Alzheimer's. The last few months it's gotten pretty bad."

Joe looked over. "He lucid?"

"He comes and goes. Hey, Liam. Some nice people are here to see you." Mark smiled down at him.

Joe gave him a small smile, not being able to hold it for long, knowing what Liam had done. "Hey. Mr. O'Riordan. FBI special agent Joe Hobbs. Listen, we got a court order here. To get a dental imprint from you."

Scott knelt down to him with the wax cylinder. "Mr. O'Riordan, I'm not going to hurt you. I just need you to bite down on this for me..."

As soon as Scott got close to him, he turned and hissed at him toothlessly. Scott was shocked by this and backed up towards Joe.

Mark pulled Scott away. "Oh, hey. Hey. Sorry, he's not like that usually. I think you may have frightened him, maybe."

"How did he loose his teeth?" Joe asked, his eyes wide and glued on Liam.

"They'd all been pulled when he got here."

"Does he have any regular visitors?"

"There used to be a man. He drove a motorcycle. I believe he may have been a nephew..."

Scott stood and looked Liam in the eye, steaming with anger "We know who you are. We know what you did."

"Alright Bones. It's okay. Lets go. Check out his case file, see what kind of kids he could have recruited. Come on. Let's go." Joe said as he pulled Scott away. Liam gave them a toothless smile as they left.

Joe and Scott left the nursing home for the courthouse for Koda's hearing. When they got there, Amy was already waiting at the end of the hallway. Joe whispered up to Scott before they reached her. "Okay. While I'm here I'm gonna get a court order to monitor Liam O'Riordan visitors. Just in case Gorgonzola decides to come back and visit his old master."

As they approached, Amy, Scott looked down at Joe with an amused smile. "You're doing that Gorgonzola thing on purpose aren't you?"

Joe grinned as Amy smiled up at Scott, then grave Joe a not-very-happy look. "If that's who I think it is, I can't really be friendly."

Joe nodded. "Got it. I'll just wait over here, Bones." Joe pat Scott's arm and walked over across the hall so he couldn't hear them. He had a thing for patting Scott's arms... For how much Scott claimed to work, when did he find the time to exercise to get arms like that?

Amy gave Joe one last glare before looking back at Scott. "Here." She reached in her bag and handed Scott a paper. "Uh, that's for you..." He opened it and saw a drawing of a family. It says 'Thank you Uncle Scotty!'. "Hayley's feeling better. She even wanted to come, actually."

Scott smiled. "Thank you." He said as he glanced over at Joe to see a court officer approaching him, although he could not hear.

"Agent Hobbs?" the officer asked.

"Yeah?"

"The judge will see you now. In chambers."

Joe waved Scott over as he asked. "What? Why in chambers?"

The officer shrugged and led Joe and Scott to the judge's chamber where Dobium, Koda, Koda's parole officer (Erica Davis) and the judge were waiting.

Dobium started talking instantly. "Judge Watkins, Koda Hoying has already proven himself a flight risk."

Erica glared at Dobium. "He's attached to his family."
