You couldn't sleep. You'd tried everything. Flipping over the pillow, more blankets, fewer blankets, lights on and off, nothing seemed to work.

You sighed, sitting up for the hundredth time. You ran your fingers through your hair and got out of bed. Maybe a book would put you to sleep.

You put on your slippers and walked through the empty bunker to the library. Being alone didn't usually scare you but in a building this big, at night nonetheless, not having the Winchesters or Cas around made you uncomfortable.

You flicked as many lights on as you could on your way over. You scanned the many shelves for a good piece of literature.

A few quiet thoughts swam through your head. 'Nope, read that already. That one ten times. Too boring. Busty Asian Beauties? Nope! Ooh, what about this one, haven't read this.' You pulled a book off the shelf and opened it to the first page. 'Nevermind, read it.' Sighing again, you put it back.

"Y/N?" A voice caught you off guard. You grabbed a nearby sword on display and pointed it at the source.

"Gadreel? You scared the crap out of me!" You cried.

The angel bowed his head. "My apologies. I believe you prayed for me."

You frowned, confused. "I didn't."

"It doesn't have to be a formal prayer." Gadreel explained. "Often it can be a longing or a desire."

You opened your mouth to explain how you didn't "desire" him but all that came out was a series of "um"s and "uh"s.

"You seem tired." Gadreel stated.

"Can't get any damn sleep." You huffed angrily.

The angel led you back to your room. "I believe humans often use music to commence the sleep cycle."

"Phone's dead, Dean stole my charger." You stated.

Gadreel blushed. The 6'2", burly angel with a chiseled jawline, bitchface that surpassed even Sam's and enough power to take out an entire army was blushing. "Perhaps I could...sing to you?"

You smiled. "I'd like that."

You crawled into your bed as Gadreel pulled up a chair. "I took a liking to this one. It would play sometimes in the bar where my vessel worked."

You smiled at the angel as he started to sing.

The smell of this place without you
The thought of your voice not here
The look in my eyes as I'm telling myself
that it's all been worth it

You didn't know he could sing like this. It was ironic but yes, he had the voice of an angel. Strong but soft and oddly comforting.

So come on don't let me down
There's plenty of time left now
To tell myself that it's all in my head
and it's all been worth it
It has all been worth all the way.

You felt relaxed, the song had a steady rhythm and the angel's voice was very soothing. Your eyelids already felt heavy...

The smell of this room without you
The thought of you laying here
The look in my eyes as I'm begging myself
to be all this with it.

With a small sigh you drifted off into the realm of the unconscious, your breathing becoming a steady rhythm.

So come on don't let me down
There's plenty of time left now
To tell myself that it's all in my head
and it's all been worth it
Yea it has all been worth all of it.

As he finished up the song Gadreel pulled your blanket over your body, chest slowly rising and falling. He leaned over and gave you a soft peck on the cheek.

Nothing but great lines define my life.
I've got these great lines defining my life.
But it's all been worth it.
Yeah it's all been worth it.
Yeah it's all been worth it.
