Katherine Hopkins' day was going swell. She had just aced a quiz in 1st hour, got a compliment from the teacher 2nd hour, and won the spelling bee in 3rd. She was looking forward to 4th hour, and she was just fine until she walked in.

Jake Rissman was exactly across the room, right in her line of sight. He was wearing blue jeans and a sleek Underarmor hoodie. His hair was smooth other than the front which jutted out in the cutest way.

She had zoned out while imagining what it'd be like if he liked her back. She shouldn't have zoned because Jake looked at her. He wasn't freaked out, in fact he smiled back. His teeth were perfectly straight and a soft white, perfectly natural.

He noticed that she was staring at him while still standing in the doorway. This made him do that head nod and chuckle. The combo that melted Katherine insides like a popsicle on a hot summer day. Her cheeks went hot and made her way to her seat. That smile was what got to her. But that wasn't his only feature, that style for example. It was his own, and it only worked on him.

His personality was adorable. Always cracking a joke at the right time. He wasn't the smartest kid in class, but he got by with straight B's.  He would raise his hand occasionally in class, but even if his answer was wrong, he still managed to put a smile on Kathy's face.

Kathy realized that it had been 5 minutes since the bell ran and she was still thinking about Jake. It wasn't like this was going to stop anytime soon. She sees him every almost everyday and thinks about him all the time. She decided it was time to do something about it.
