The small brown sparrow leaped from branch to branch. His golden tipped wings gracefully grazed the leaves as he landed in each branch of a different tree. The small sparrow was bringing word, of a prophecy. One that would save the world from chaos.

But the poor little messenger sparrow never got to deliver the important message. For a large owl swooped down from the sky, her wings as quiet as midnight. She held her legs forward stretching out her toes so her huge talons could clip around the small bird.

Once the owl pinned the sparrow she listened to his pleading calls, for he had to deliver the message or all would die. Families, mothers, fathers, daughters, and brothers.

But the owl didn't care for she worked for the dark, she stared into the sparrow's golden fearful gaze, before she let out a blood turning cry. She slit the small birds neck, and took off leaving the dying sparrow for the ground predators.

With the sparrow's final breaths he screamed, and he cried the words.

Talons. And. Flames. A endless game. A eagle with the heart of gold, the raven with a temper of a bear, the sparrow who feared his shadow, the owl who knew every star. They will save all, from the bugs to the great mountains.

So as he died, the forest sang his message and passed it on, through the wind, through the grass. Everything whispered the prophecy, yet the word only pasted to the wise, and the great.

But who knows maybe a small little hatchling heard that whisper, heard the cries, and heard the scream.
