Alright, let's talk SWCO... mainly, the rebels panel. I was watching it via live stream yesterday.. and, um...

well...

Dave Filoni: "This is the last season of Star Wars Rebels."

Crowd: awww

Dave: "I know, but when you don't end a show... people start making T-shirts..."

Yup, that's right, folks: Star Wars Rebels season 4, coming this fall, is going to be the last season of our beloved show.

I pretty much saw that coming, but it's still sad. I love Star Wars Rebels so much.. it's so special to me. I was telling my dad about it and suddenly I found myself all emotional. x'D (So did poor Tiya -- she was dabbing away tears as Dave announced it!!) I'm really gonna miss it...

but, as Dave said:

Dave: "This by no means represents an end to what we're doing in animation."

With a rather sly look on his face.

What the live stream didn't show (at least, from what I saw) was that the attendees were able to watch the first 21 minutes of season 4. According to starwars.com, people gasped, cheered, and cried.

I'm rather astonished that I didn't cry when he said season 4 was the last one. Maybe it's just that I already knew. But my heart certainly still sank.

But the trailer... definitely has me worried.

If you haven't seen it yet, I've included it on top via youtube. ;D Spoilers ensue below, so be warned!!

(KANERA YES!!! KISS HIM HERA KISS HIM!!!!)

The first words of the trailer are very, very ominous.

Hera Syndulla: "It was a simple story... about a boy who was lost and a girl who was broken. They fought alongside a survivor. A war veteran. And a fallen knight. I led them into battle... against an evil so terrible, it tried to black out the stars. We fought for each other... we fought for those who could not. But we never imagined... it would end.... like this."

She speaks in an extremely grave and solemn tone. I fear her words are full of foreshadowing, especially because of the widespread fan theory that to easily solve the problem of canon (that the rebels do not appear in the original trilogy, for obvious reasons)... everyone dies.

But they can't do this!! you may be exclaiming. Star Wars Rebels is a kid show!!

But official people have stated that they see Star Wars Rebels as "a show for everyone", not just for kids, and that it wasn't intended to be just for kids. Sure, season one started out light and airy. But then, at the end, it got much, much darker -- as soon as Grand Moff Tarkin walked out onto the screen. In the next few episodes: classical, goofy goons Commandant Aresko and Tasmkaster Grint are beheaded in Tarkin's office by the Inquisitor, Tarkin blows up the com tower on Lothal and captures Kanan, the rebels find themselves struggling to rescue their beloved friend against the advice of the first Fulcrum (Ahsoka, of course) and the orders of Hera, Ezra (and yeah, pretty much everyone else) almost dies rescuing Kanan, Kanan is heavily tortured onscreen by Tarkin and the Inquisitor as he is taken to MUSTAFAR, and the Inquisitor commits suicide after losing the ultimate battle with Kanan.

Hera's wham line at the end of one of these episodes has to be mentioned here: "He said Mustafar is where Jedi go to die."

Cue season 2. Vader comes. The rebels are USELESS against him. More inquisitors, lots more near-death occasions, dark implications about the Empire (like the inquisitors kidnapping Force-sensitive children; "Holocron Heist" Clone Wars story arc, anyone?), etc. etc. MAUL IS REINTRODUCED IN THE SEASON FINALE, KANAN IS BLINDED (those gorgeous eyes RIP ;u;), AHSOKA FIGHTS VADER, WE LOSE AHSOKA, EZRA GETS CLOSER TO THE DARK SIDE, ETC. ETC. ETC.!!!
