Acrophilia: a love of heights
A word that always crossed my mind on nights like these.
A light breeze took its course, my hair flowing behind me in response. My legs dangled over the edge of the apartment building, swaying back and forth as my palms grip to the edge. I looked out into the city lights, illuminating against the black blanket of night.
I take a bit to admire the scenery, not really knowing if I'd have time to see it again.
It's the last day of summer break, and trust me when I say I don't want to go back.
Pierce High has an overall clean record, considering the amount of toxic individuals attending there. Well, at least it's my last year.
I inhale a deep breath of air before letting it out, standing up and brushing my self off before making my way to the end of the apartment building I stood on, jumping down onto the fire escape below.
I look back at the city once more, continuing to climb down the escape until I reached the bottom, dropping down onto the top of a dumpster.
I hop down to the concrete floor of the alley way I was in, walking out to the motorcycle parked at the exit. I place my helmet on my head and let the engine roar before speeding off.

I groaned the moment I woke up to the aggravating elements of the morning; the blare of my alarm clock, the constant noise made by birds, and the suns rays that happened to shine through the crack in my curtains and directly across my eyes.
I roll over and quickly hit 'snooze' on my phones alarm clock to at least eliminate one annoying sound, eventually rolling back onto my back, taking a few moments to close my eyes in a desperate attempt to go back to sleep even though I knew it wasn't a possibility.
I sigh and swing my legs over the edge of my bed, yawning and rubbing my eyes until forcing myself to get up and get ready for hell-I mean school.
I took sleepy steps to my reach-in closet, looking through the shirts and pants, grabbing a pair of light blue ripped jeans with fairly big rips in them and a black off shoulder crop top.
I fold the clothes over on my forearm and walk towards my door to get to the bathroom. I place my hand on the doorknob but stop myself from opening the door once I hear giggling behind it. I smile to myself, and listen to the continuous giggling followed by a stern "shh" before opening the door.
"Rawr!"
"Oh no! A bear and a dinosaur!" I exclaim, jumping back a bit and placing a hand over my heart for effect, earning giggles from my twin siblings dressed in their animal footie pajamas.
"It's just us, scaredy cat! Look!" Kyla stated in between giggles, taking the dinosaur hood off her head. I smile at her, letting out a big exaggerated breath.
"Thank goodness, I was really scared," I said, earning more giggles. "So this really isn't a bear?"
I pulled the bear hood off Ethan, ruffling his hair underneath, earning a hand swatting at me.
"Hey! I'm as scary as one though!" he justified, growling at me while showing off his altered teeth which have spaces from various visits from the tooth fairy,
I raise an eyebrow at him, smiling wider as an idea popped into my head. "Scary enough to take this?" I asked, jumping in front of him with my arms outstretched and my fingers curled, beginning to tickle his sides as his uncontrolled laughter erupted in the hallway.
