We were walking down the street coming up to the so called "Alexandria" walls, I was holding Judith in my arms as my gun was on my hip in the holster. I looked ahead to the back of my father's head, I could tell he was a bit hesitant to this whole "safe heaven" type of deal, so was I. I could feel the cold sweat drip down the back of my neck, Judith was starting to get fussy so Maggie took her and I pulled out my gun.
I heard a feminine voice speak from behind the wall, I looked up and saw a girl with short brown hair, big bold glasses the were in front of her green eyes. I gulped as she had a AA-12 in her arms, she seemed like the type of girl that would be in the flower field. She noticed my stare and nodded towards me,
"You got a starin' problem sheriff?"
I shook my head as she spoke in a firm and leader type of voice, there was no softness in it. She rolled her eyes as she looked at my father now,
"Name and business."
"I'm here Rosi. Aaron."
She looked at him and noticed that his partner, Eric, was injured and opened the gates. Behind her was about ten or fifteen people that were staring in wonder at our group. I wouldn't blame them, we are scary looking, especially since we haven't showered or shaved in what felt like a lifetime. She walked towards Eric and Aaron and helped bring him in. She gave us a side glance from Eric's shoulder and signaled to follow her.
Aaron then went to the infirmary with Eric, we were left with the brunette and some other girl,
"Put your weapons there. Don't worry we won't steal 'em. At least don't do anything stupid and we won't have to do that."
There she goes again, she had a smirk plastered on her face as she noticed our weary glance at her and the other woman. She sighed and shook her head and spoke again,
"Deana will want to speak to you all soon. Just something that we need to do before you are welcomed to our group-"
"We're not sure if...we are going to stay."
Glenn spoke up. I'm not sure what he was up to but, I guess he didn't want to have another fight to occur between groups. She ended up waiting with us until this so called Deana came for us. I told Maggie that I would hold Judith again, she was acting a bit different for a while. Then again, she just lost her only family she thought she had left. I understand her pain, after the situation with my mom, I haven't been the same either.
I walked over to the stairs and sat down, tired from a long, restless night watching and making sure we were safe. I felt a body sit next to me, when I opened my eyes I saw the girl from earlier. Her AA-12 strapped around her shoulder and rested on her back, she looked at me and gave a half-hearted smile my way. Her gaze was mainly on Judith, then again, when was the last time anyone saw an infant in a world like this?
"What's her name?"
Her voice was soft this time, smooth almost. Like a mothers loving tone to a crying child o try to calm them down. I looked at her slightly and she awaited patiently for an answer,
"Judith."
She smiled, she reached her hand out, running her finger on Judith's face soothingly. I heard footsteps behind me and turned my head around, seeing a woman, maybe older then my dad. She has short brown, kind of blondish type of hair.
She had an almost serious expression on her face, though she looked like she was forcing a smile upon her face, my father ended up stepping up to the woman and nodded his head.
"My name is Deana and I'm the leader of Alexandria. Welcome."
Everyone stayed quiet.
"I hope Rosaline took good care of you all while I was taking care of business?"
I looked over at Rosaline, it was a nice name and it suited her. I looked back over to my dad and he nodded silently towards Rosaline. I gave him a questioning look but then soon understood that he wanted to know what I was talking about with her.
I shook m head towards him, saying nothing happened between our one sided conversation, he just nodded and went back to listening to what Deana has to say.
