She stares at herself in the mirror
reminiscing past memories
she wanted to feel beautiful
and wanted from those who wanted nothing with her
what did she do wrong?
she didn't want that man to taint her soft skin
a naive child she was, but ironic is it?
she saw her father beat up her mother
her father intoxicated with other women,
her mother begging her father not to touch her
but his hand slid under her dress
maybe fate wanted her to feel what her mother had felt,
vulnerable, dirty and worthless
so many words that can substitute
yet what word can define her emotions
if it sets a limit
The other kids laughed at her
without realizing the damage she already took
she listened to every word, but a wrong move that was
that girl she thought was cool punched her and made fun of her everyday
the guy she could trust left scared
the girl she considered as a sister spread rumors
the people she thought she could rely on abandoned her to join the crowd
she became the laughing stock,
she couldn't take it anymore
she decided to act the pain out
her mother decided that on her birthday,
it was important to force her daughter to eat off the floor like the worthless dog she is
the tears spilling out her eyes didn't faze her
she pushed her onto the ground waiting impatiently for the girl to eat the brownies she dropped
she yelled at her for being a dirty girl,
the father came to the rescue
the girl stood in shocked as her father defended her, and when he stared at her she ran
she tried killing herself, but someone found out
as the police came she was almost knocked out
those different pills she took were in her system
she wanted to leave because she knew how weak she was
despite time spent at that hospital
she still remained the dull numb girl on heavy medications
the people at school now murmur and give pity looks
the hyper party beth wasn't real, it was a way for her to hide her pain
she faked everything, and she couldn't anymore as her mother's coworker tried molesting her
she couldn't anymore and she ran
she ran away from the town to a new town she only glimpsed when the sun was out
the problems she ran from came back
no matter how much she tried to forget, her past came to torment her
her mother still came to insult her
she feels like running again, but where?
maybe a large town to stay invisible, or maybe under the soft moist grass
either way, she's gone
