Sometimes Daphne wore a skirt
Long, covering her knees
A pale pretty blue
Dotted with cartoon bees
Other times she wore jeans
Faded maroon red
Outstretched legs prop up
The story book she read
Sometimes Daphne ate a lot
So much she was stuffed
Other times she ate less
(But it was always enough)
One day Daphne'd cry
Alone in her room
Overthinking her future
And inevitable doom
The next day she smiled
Although it was true
She didn't often smile these days
But she always would for you
Sometimes Daphne would spend hours
And thoroughly cake her face
Avoiding the harsh comments
That put her in her place
Other times she didn't mind
Choosing what she'd wear
Long scarves and bright colours
She smiled back as they stared
Don't get me wrong, Daphne's no hero
Back chatter, refuses to be dutiful
But like all humans, no matter how she looked- she was always beautiful.
