" I need those papers on my desk by Friday, rose!" my boss, Mr. Davis, called out to me"Alright, one new article with pictures about the terrorist attacks in Beijing by Friday, got it," I said twirling my hair with my fingers. " you look cute in that rose," he said motioning to my dress. " I look OK, I guess," I said logging into my computer. " that reminds me, are you doing anything later tonight?" he said, moving a black curl from his face. " because I have a girl I'd love for you to meet." his eyes were pleading me to say yes. my heart said no, but my dumb ass said "yeah sure, text me the details. " god I hate myself. Moving on with my day I started on the papers about the terrorist attacks in Beijing. They've been getting less and less frequent, but they still happened. I'm a journalist at the new York times and I'm one of the best. Not to brag. oh, yeah! back to the story. I was just doing my job, getting information and putting it into documents, adding pictures. not that hard. the attacks in Beijing were traumatic, 30 dead, 67 injured. several bombs had been disguised in book bags and were set off in a busy shopping mall. it was the newest one since the London bridge attack, and that was two years ago! so as you can tell, it shook the world to hear the news. I had just finished the writing portion when my phone buzzed.

I sighed, why does he have to text me during work hours? anyway, I googled the bar I was supposed to go to and made a note on my phone to leave my apartment at quarter after 8. Anyway when i got home, maddie was laying on the couch, on her phone. " oh my lord, where have you been? You are 10 minutes late what happened?" she asked, jumping up. " chill, i had an, um, encounter with some old,... friends." i said, walking to my room and setting my stuff down. " i have a date tonight, so don't make this long." i said when she came in my room." you have a date? Who is she? HWho got you to together"

"Woah woah woah, calm down." i said, sitting on my bed. Mitch hasn't said anything yet. All i know is that he thinks we'll match and shit." maddie came over and sat on the bed." do you need help deciding what to wear?" she said playing with my hair " because jordan can help you out if needed." " yeah i think i need it", i said grabbing my phone and calling him. "Hello step sis's best friend." he replied. His voice shocks me everytime i hear it.
