" You can't hide from your shadow, nor can you run. So why not embrace it? Dance with it, play with it? It can be a friend who stays forever if you make it one... After all, the others all leave." She stated matter-of-factly, her face growing grimme...
Peter Pan silently glided through the small town, his shadow flying beside him. He was on a mission to find a new lost boy until he felt something new... it was indescribable, he yearned to know what it was. His curiosity was eating away at him, the feeling grew stronger as he pushed himself to accelerate. As the cold air hit his face he began to think... this feeling, it was someone lost, yet something tugged at him. It was as if this person had found themselves, but that wasn't right. They can't possibly have found themselves' if they were lost? Could they? Whatever it was, it was new. He liked new.
Finally, he arrived at the house. It was clearly abandoned; the walls were run down, the paint was mostly chipped, most of the windows had been poorly boarded up with rotting planks. And yet there was a faint light flooding through one on the top floor. It was a soft yellow glow, delicate and warm. Peter gently landed at the window and listened carefully. A tune, soft and delicate, filled the air. For a moment, he closed his eyes and forgot about where he was. If only he could listen to it every night before drifting off...
Upon arriving at the source of the tune, Peter had accidentally stepped on one of the creakier planks. He cringed, mentally scolding himself as the inevitable creak broke the atmosphere. He dared not open his eyes, for he did not know what to expect. The singing stopped abruptly, he had been heard. Slowly, his head rose as his eyes opened. In front of him stood not a boy, but a girl. She said not a word but instead, cocked her head to the side curiously. He stood up from his crouching stance and mimicked her. A long silence followed, both of them curiously examining each other. The girl had dark brown hair, faint streaks of black and red highlighted it. It was up in a ponytail, with her baby hairs left down as to frame her face. The slight waves perfectly complimented her. Her eyes were light blue, like the water from mermaid lagoon. If he hadn't stared directly into them he would've thought that they were silver. It was as if the colour in them had been drained long ago, he wondered from what. What had hurt this fragile angel standing before him? He felt a strange possessiveness inside him, all he wanted to do was to protect and hold close the darling infront of her. She had stirred something deep inside him he had yet to understand. Her eyes held a story, one he was going to find out no matter the cost. His eyes trailed down to her outfit; she wore a white t-shirt, black leggings, and a simple brown leather jacket. A glimmer caught his eyes, she had a locket, polished to perfection. Of whom did it portray he did not know, but in time, shall he find out, he decided.

After a rather awkward moment of not knowing what to say, Peter stood up and cleared his throat. However, he said nothing, not knowing how to properly engage in a conversation. It was strange, he was usually quite good at this. Yet there he stood, speechless.
A smile tugged at her lips, "Greetings. We don't usually get visitors." Her voice was comparable to a goddess's. It flowed through her plumb lips like a melody. However it was unsure, as if she was not used to interaction.
" Hi. I'm Peter, Peter Pan." The girl nodded before returning to her room.
Peter followed along into the source of light. Upon entering the room, his spirits were enlightened. The room was so empty yet so homely. In the corner rests a dusty bed, of which a cabinet stood next to. Everything was organised and fixed to a tee. A rustic closet stood in another corner, elegant patterns adorned its edges. All of which was lit up by a single oil lamp, propped atop a small crate in the center of the room. The fire gave everything a faint glow, like something out of a dream.
Music suddenly filled the air, a combination of strings began to play. The girl began to gracefully sway side to side, Peter watched delightedly. He was curious as to what she was doing but shut up nevertheless, having decided to watch her instead. To his surprise, her shadow stepped out from the wall and joined hands with her. The two gracefully danced in perfect parallel as she sang,
"Dancing bears, painted wings
Things I almost remember And a song someone sings Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm Horses prance through a silver storm Figures dancing gracefully Across my memory
Far away, long ago Glowing dim as an ember Things my heart used to know Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm Horses prance through a silver storm Figures dancing gracefully Across my memory
Far away, long ago Glowing dim as an ember Things my heart used to know Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December..."
Peter found it all so enchantingly haunting that he almost didn't notice the lyrics. But he did, and he had a handful of questions for her.
He cleared his throat, " How are you doing that?"
She stopped, "Doing what?"
Peter pointed towards her shadow, who was now chasing Peter's shadow. The shadows played like children, running across the room.
" You can't hide from your shadow, nor can you run. So why not embrace it? Dance with it, play with it? It can be a friend who stays forever if you make it one... After all, the others all leave." She stated matter-of-factly, her face growing grimmer and eerily serious as she finished. Pan couldn't help but stare at her with astonishment and curiosity, he never thought of it that way.
" Do you wanna go to Neverland? You can join us, then you'll never be alone."
She scrunched up her face, " What's that?" He smirked, she seemed desperate to know. " You'll see when we get there," he taunted. The girl frowned, stopping to think about it, before nodding and grabbing a bag. She stood in front of him impatiently,
" What are you waiting for? Let's go."
Well that was easier than I expected...
