All is quiet along the riverbanks. The lonely canoe slips through the shadows of the evening. The only sound is the quiet, rhythmic splash of the paddle as it cuts through the water. This drowsy mood quickly shifts, however, when two reptilian eyes suddenly appear in the water ahead. The air instantly becomes charged with anxiety as the paddler reacts to the sight of the alligator.
Instantly, the alligator started to approach the canoe. Its eyes we turning red, like blood. It licked its lips, as if it was hungry, and ready for its next meal. As the big, ugly beast got closer, the paddler's eyes got wider. "This is going to be the end," he thought. "Why now?" The paddler reached for his ore, hoping that if he fount back, he might spare a few extra seconds of life. He started to cower down, accepting his death. The big, green, ugly, bright eyed alligator, suddenly halted.
"Mat?" The beast said, "Is it really you?" The grown man shrieked. He has witnessed an alligator talking."
"Yes?" He responded, not knowing anything else to do.
"I thought I would never see you again! I thought you were dead!"
"Wha- Who are you?" As he asked the very question, the alligator started to glow gold. The bright, shining creature started to morph. The next thing the man saw, was a beautiful woman; his deceased wife.
"What the... How the... WHAT!?" Standing, not five seet away, was the paddler's deceased wife, or though he thought. "Cassandra!"
The paddler instantly urged the woman to crawl into into the boat. He had must gone insane, he thought. How could his wife be alive? She was dead. But then he thought about how she died. She hadn't been proven dead.. or completely. The girl had gone missing. Ten days later, 'she' was found in an old mill, scorched to a crisp. There was no way to tell for sure if it was her, but know else could it be?
The turned to the paddler and hugged him tightly. She told him all about the evil witch that found her picking an apple on her orchard. She was on a trip south, and ran out of food when she found it. She intending to pay for in but it was too late. The evil, old woman cursed her. She was bound to be a beast forever, but love broke the curse.
"I missed to so much, Cassandra!"
"I'm sorry, my love." The girl looked at him unpleasantly. SHe looked as though she was about to do something she didn't want to. As she stared into his face, she stabbed him in the chest. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry," she cried. She couldn't bare, what she had done. The deal with the witch, was that to become human; she had to kill someone she loved." He was dead.
