You sped through the forest on your motorbike. You had been on patrol when you got the text and seeing as it was a rather dull night you decided you might as well tell Bruce and the rest of your family about it.
You remember how you met Bruce, you were 15 and living in between Penguin and Two-Face's territory. Your house had been raided and set alight, the Batman had saved you and your parents before it became ashes. You knew at that moment that you wanted in; the Batman had, had sidekicks before, Robin and Batgirl, but they hadn't been seen in a while. So you were going to be his newest. You had grown up knowing the streets of Gotham well enough, you were familiar with every gang that threatened the lives of others and, like every other woman in Gotham you knew self-defence.
After school you'd practice free-running. At first you were horrible, but gradually you got better and eventually you were great. Meanwhile you had been trying to guess the identity of the Batman. Who was he? It was an age old question that you were determined to crack. You had guessed that Clark Kent was Superman, but that wasn't hard, they were both declared 'dead' at the same time and they look so similar. It was a wonder why no one else put two and two together. You were getting closer and closer to unmasking the Bat.
Or so you thought.
After a couple of years you were ready. You had pieced together a costume, it was a bit more colourful than the other Batgirls, but you were proud of it nevertheless. You had brought yellow knee and elbow pad that matched your yellow converse, you could run in heels but this was your first time out. You had also brought a black scuba suit which underneath you had attached bullet proof vest to. The cape was made out of a purple material, you had some left over, and so you added a small skirt. The Bat symbol was also created with the purple material. You didn't know where to start with the Bat mask, it was more of a helmet and you had no idea how to create one. So you made a simple mask that covered your eyes that was winged at the edges.
You had moved out of your parents' home so you didn't have to lie when you left for patrol. For the first couple of weeks you weren't lucky, but finally you saw the Bat. He was standing opposite a man, who you recognised as Victor Zsasz. Zsasz had a woman in one hand and a large knife in the other. You didn't exactly share the Bat's no killing rule when it came to men like this and sometimes you wouldn't mind being the one to break the rule. Looking down you smiled as you were directly above them. You stepped of the buildings ledge and landed on Zsasz; the woman and knife were knocked out of his hands. You punched him a few times before he was knocked out. You stood and saw the bat squint his eyes slightly.
"I think we should talk." You proposed.
"Not a chance." His robotic voice gave you chills as he walked past you and cuffed Zsasz.
As he was about to leave you grabbed his arm. "But I think you'll want to know what I have to say Bruce."
Faster than lightening he grabbed you and grappled both of you onto the top of a nearby building.
"Talk." He folded his arms.
"I want in!"
"No."
"Yes, and if you try to kill me or erase my memory then you're in trouble. As if I don't cancel an email at a curtain time it gets sent to the GCPDs Harvey Bullock as we all know Jim Gordon's your lapdog." You tried to be threatening, but really you were rambling.
There was a moment of silence before he unfolded his arms, "No."
"Batman, Batgirl hasn't been sighted in almost six months." You were softer with this approach. "It's either a long holiday, or something happened and her position is open." and with that he grappled away leaving you pissed.
