I took a deep breath and sat on the stool in front of my piano, and not one of those fancy ones, kinda like the small ones that just fold out. Can't afford a fancy one, but if I could I would definitely get it.
I rested my hands on the keys, took a deep breath and looked at the sheet music in front of me. I didn't really need it considering how much I practiced in my free time.
I began playing the song, humming softly.

I can swear, I can joke
I say what's on my mind
If I drink, if I smoke
I keep up with the guys
And you see me holding up my middle finger to the world
Fuck your ribbons and your pearls
'Cause I'm not just a pretty girl

I'm more than just a picture
I'm a daughter and a sister
Sometimes it's hard for me to show
That I'm more than just a rumor
Or a song on your computer
There's more to me than people know

Some days I'm broke, some days I'm rich
Some days I'm nice, some days I can be a bitch
Some days I'm strong, some days I quit
I don't let it show, but I've been through some shit

I can swear, I can joke
I say what's on my mind
If I drink, if I smoke
I keep up with the guys
And you see me holding up my middlefinger to the world
Fuck your ribbons and your pearls
'Cause I'm not just a pretty girl

I'm more than just a number
I'm a hater, I'm a lover
Sometimes it's hard for me to show
That I'm more than just a title
Or a comment going viral
There's more to me than people know

Some days I'm broke, some days I'm rich
Some days I'm nice, some days I can be a bitch
Some days I'm strong, some days I quit
I don't let it show, but I've been through some shit

I can swear, I can joke
I say what's on my mind
If I drink, if I smoke
I keep up with the guys
And you see me holding up my middlefinger to the world
Fuck your ribbons and your pearls
'Cause I'm not just a pretty girl
I'm not just a pretty girl, yeah
I'm not just a pretty girl
No I'm not just a pretty girl

I can swear, I can joke
I say what's on my mind
If I drink, if I smoke
I keep up with the guys
And you see me holding up my middlefinger to the world
Fuck your ribbons and your pearls
'Cause I'm not just a pretty girl
I'm not just a pretty girl, yeah
I'm not just a pretty girl
I'm not just a pretty girl
I'm not just a pretty girl

I smiled as I finished the song and closed my eyes as I began playing the tune to 'I'm Still Standin'. It's probably my second favorite song, it was a song my mother listened to before she passed away....
I work hard every day and follow my passions for my mom, and this singing contest is something she would definitely want me to be in.
I shut off the piano and went to the kitchen to make some dinner, and after some debate I decided on spaghetti.
I heard someone knocking on my door and quickly ran to the door, when I opened it I saw my neighbor.
"Oh, hello Ms. Anne!" I greeted, and the old turtle smiled at me, and she followed me into the kitchen.
"I'm making some spaghetti, would you like some?" I asked and I turned to see her nod.
"Yes please, and I would love to hear you sing and play piano again. That was beautiful dear, it's the best part of my day." She said, and I curled my tail around myself and blushed.
"Thank you, Ms. Anne." I said, and she smiled as I placed a bowl of spaghetti in front of her.
"No problem dear," she said, and after I made my plate I sat down and began eating. Ms. Anne and me joked and laughed as we ate, but it eventually led to me.
"So, (Y/N), got your eye on anyone?" She asked, and I choked on my water.
"Ms. Anne!" I said, and she laughed.
"C'mon, a pretty fox like you, and you still don't have a boyfriend!" She exclaimed, and I sighed.
"How about some music?" I asked, and we walked to my room, Ms. Anne rambling about my relationship, or non-relationship.
I sat at my piano, turned it on and played a few practice keys, which made Ms. Anne be quiet.
Immediatly, Ms. Anne's favorite song popped in my head, and I began to play it. It's called 'I Try', by Macy Gray.
She immediatly cheered and I began singing, and for some reason the gorilla from today popped in my head.
I stumbled a bit, but kept going. But oh boy that did not go un-noticed.
