Well, here we are.

when I first arrived, I was doubting my chances. in my last school, primary, I really only had two friends, and we kept fighting. I was really hoping I wouldn't miss it up. "it's ok Mia. you'll do just fine. you already know a couple people here." I let off a sigh of relief when i saw my friend Michael. I signalled to him to come over;

"hey Michael! dude, I'm nervous. remember last year. I was the biggest shit ever. I really hope I dont mess up here."

"don't worry Mia. you'll be fine."

then I saw a girl I had met from that presentation day/ design challenge or whatever it was called. "oh shit. what was her name again?" I thought to myself.

"FUCK"

Ihad just made eye contact. shit. oh no. she's walking over. I guess I'll just have to be honest. It's been three months anyways.

"hey! how are you!"

"I'm really good thanks! I'm excited for this school. oh! I should probably introduce you to my friends!"

fuck. I didnt even ask and she's already introducing her friends.

"ok! sounds great!" I am a stupid shit. wow.

"so this is Harriot, and this is Gwen. Guys, this is.. uuuhhh... i am so sorry... i forgot your name!"

"Mia, and don't worry. i may have forgotten your name too." Phew.

"my name is Peri. with an I."

"oh i know how to remember your name now!"

then the bell rang. phew. that was really awkward. well i hope today will be fun.

"hey Mia! we need to go to the hall!"

that was my sister, Louise. she was in peer support so she was here today too. normally on the first day of school, it would only be year 7 and the year 10 peer support leaders. as i went to the assembly with Louise, i scanned the crowd around me to see any people that i thought i should stay away from, because i was introverted and i wanted to see if peri or michael were taking to anyone i might want to meet.

when assembly started, the teacher said that we were going to be in peer support groups for our first week until we got our classes and timetables. apart from that, nothing really stuck out. i didnt pay attention and drew on my hand instead.

later on, in my first class, i sat down and opened my computer and put in my earphones. just before i started my music, a girl tapped my shoulder and asked if she could sit down next to me. i gave a small nod and she sat down in that seat.

"hi. my names Jaime."

"hi i'm Mia. it's nice to meet you."

"you too!"
