Chapter 8:

At 10 mintues before midnight those of us who went running arrived alert and well ran. The run really helped let off some steam. I can think more clearly now. And I know that just reacting wasnt a smart thing to do. Ramon was right. What if it was a trap and they killed them as soon as we showed up. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if Ry or Mykah had to pay for our reckless mistakes.

I shifted and the others behind us soon follwed. We had strapped our clothes to our legs and we hastily threw them on before walking into the pack house. Not much of the pack actually lived in the pack house but we were allowed to come and go as we pleased. Though many of the women and children were here tonight. A warning must have gone through the pack to protect their loved ones from the Blue Bloods. There were rumors that the men in their pack liked to kidnap young women and girls from other packs and take their innocence just to prove a point. I have never taken that seriously because the thought of someone doing such a thing was repulsive and I refused to believe it.

I walked into the living room which consisted of mostly children. I got on my knees as about a dozen toddlers or so tackled me to the ground. I couldnt help but erupt with laughter. "OK!" I said "now get off me."

One by one the children slowly got out of their dog pile and sat in a semi circle around me. "Can you tell us a story Jess?" a little girl named Angel asked me.

"sorry guys. not now. i just came to say hi."

The look of dissapointment almost broke my heart but I had responsibilities. "Maybe later ok?". They all nodded and dispersed with hopeful looks on their faces. As if on cue, Damaris called me saying that Ramon was ready for the meeting to begin. I sighed running a hand through my already tousled hair and slowly got up, following Damaris to the alphas office.

Everyone who was at the 'meeting' before was present, along with a few extras. The heads of security, Seth and Damon were silently standing in corners with determined looks on their faces. On the wall behind the alphas desk was a map of Florida. It had been marked up, suggesting that Ramon had done some thinking without us.

After walking in Ramon spoke,

"So is that everyone?"

We all looked to Ariana who kept track of these things. She nodded her head slowly and our focus turned back to Ramon. He didnt even bother sugar coating what he had to say he just came out with it.

"We need to find these girls and we need to keep this from happening again. I have eliminated all of the impossible places to hide them and have also singled out some secluded areas that could be where they are keeping them."

He paused to make sure everyone was following what he was saying. Once he confirmed we were, he continued.

"What I expect is that they will be in an area where our wolves can't sniff them out easily and where there are crocs"

A shudder went through the room. The crocs were the only real thing that werewolves were afriad of. They arent just mindless creatures that like to eat whatever walks through their water like everyone thinks. They are shapeshifters just like us, but do not have a conscience. In their human forms they have lost everything so they resort to eating other shapeshifters as a bloodthirsty revenge. To kill a croc you have to cut (or in our case bite) the back of their necks. It is completely possible to kill them, but it also very likely that they will not hesitate to try and eat you. So all shapeshifters try to avoid them at all cost. Though it would make sense for the bluebloods to hide he girls near them. That'd make it harder for us to get to them.

"Well if its possible," Raven muttered not-so-discreetly "I'd prefer we save the croc places for last"

There was a mutter of agreement in the room but the hard stare of the alpha cut it off. "Now THAT is exactly what the BlueBloods want you think. Isnt it Raven. All the more reason to check there first."
