I woke up to a loud knock at my door. I groaned, got up and walked to my door.

"Joey!" A voice yelled. It sounded panicked. I hurried up and answered the door. I unlocked my door, and swung it open. It was Headmaster Davis. Her fangs were out, and her eyes were red. I gasped at the sight.

"What? I've been in here all night. I haven't left. You're buddies outside my door can tell you that. I've done my homework. You don't need to come and keep checking on me." I said, leaning against my door frame. Davis sighed and her eyes went back to normal, and her fangs retracted.

"Are you alright? No one has been in here?" She said, crossing her arms. I shook my head.

"Your buddies that have been guarding the door should've told you." I said, getting a bit frustrated.

"Joey, didn't you hear what went on outside of your door? Those guys that I put outside your door were murdered, and you didn't hear a thing?" I shook my head. "Joey, the person who did this was your mother. I also have other news. We heard news of your father. Sadly, he has passed on." My heart stopped.

"M-My dad?" I said, stumbling to the floor. "But, he was the only human family that I had left. He can't be gone." I cried. Davis sighed, and I swore that I saw sympathy in her eyes.

"Well, Joey, i'm very sorry for the loss of your father. But now we have to be on high alert for the safety of this Academy. I will leave you alone tonight to grieve, but tomorrow you must show one of the new vamps around. They always seem to like you, don't know why, but they do. His name is Ethan Nestor. He has just moved here, and doesn't know what to do, as he is a newborn vamp. Okay?" Davis said, inching towards the door. I nodded and slowly got up.

"Right. I'll see you tomorrow, Davis. I'm going to try and sleep everything off. I still need sleep, even if my deranged mother is after my life." I said, getting onto my bed. She nodded, and left, shutting the bedroom door behind her quietly. I sighed, and laid down. Screw all of this. I shouldn't be going through this, i'm only 17. I'm supposed to be a regular teenager, not a vampire hunter, I thought to myself. After awhile of thinking and crying, I finally drifted off to sleep.
