HG25. Broken Record

They followed naman, mga uto-uto eh.

Nang makarating na kami, agad na kaming pumunta sa vacant table na nakita naming.

"What should we get? New York's Best?" tanong ni Aria.

"I think we should g- uhm, Kath. I-ikaw na l-lang ulit yung pumili." Biglang namutla si Miles habang nagsasalita.

"Hey, are you okay, Miles?" tanong ko.

Nagulat naman siya sa tanong ko.

"Ha? Of course. S-sige na. Mag-order ka na." Sabi niya. Namumutla talaga siya. Parang.... Nakakita ng multo.

"Sinong niloko mo, Miles? Ano? Okay ka lang?" tanong ni Aria.

"Okay nga l-lang. Mag-order ka n-na, Kath." Sabi niya, still stammering.

Aria and I exchanged looks and shrugged. Ang weird ni Miles.

"New York's Best?" tanong ko. Both girls nodded. Inilabas na ni Aria yung phone niya and started playing Flappy Bird- god damn Flappy Bird.

"Okay." Sabi ko naman at tumayo na.

"Uhm, mag-ccr lamang a-ako." Miles stated, and again, stammering.

"Sure." Sabi ko naman at pumunta na sa counter para mag-order.

I walked towards the counter while looking at the menu, so I was basically not looking to where I am going.

Pagtingin ko sa dinadaanan ko, halos mahulog ko yung wallet ko sa nakita ko.

Marco with a random girl. Medyo familiar yung girl, maybe I have seen her at the university.

Kaya ba biglang namutla si Miles?

Marco's arm was around the girl's shoulder, nakikipila sila sa counter. I instantly frowned, akala ko ba si Miles ang gusto niya?

Sinadya kong pumila sa tabing counter: sa tapat ni Marco at nung babae.

I acted as if I don't see them. On my peripheral view, nakita kong napatingin si Marco sa akin. He must have recognized me dahil tinanggal niya yung arm niya sa balikat ng babae.

Tiningnan ko siya, bigla siyang namutla.

"Oh hi, Marco! Good to see you here." I sarcastically greeted with a fake smile plastered on my face.

"Uhm, Kath... Anong ginagawa mo dito?" he asked.

I forced a laugh.

"Kailan pa naging sa iyo ang Yellow Cab para tanungin mo ako?" I asked, a little too harshly- but he deserves it. "But, oh well, to answer your question, I'm here with my girlfriends for a nice day. Pero nasira na agad. How about you? Anong ginagawa mo dito?" I asked back.

Napalunok si Marco at tumingin sa babaeng kasama niya.

"Uhm... Kath, kasama mo ba si Miles?" tanong niya.

"You have not answered my question." I remarked. "And yes, kasama ko siya. So this explains why she literally lost her mind when she got here. I may go and check her on the restrooms afterwards, baka kasi umiiyak na naman." I nagged. Aba, namana ko kay Aria ang pagkamaldita ko.

Umalis ako sa pila at dumeretso sa table.

"Oh, nakaorder ka na?" tanong ni Aria, still focused on playing Flappy Bird.
