Finding Me

Chapter 1

Beep, beep, beep, goes my alarm. 'Ughhhh' I think as I try to press the button to stop the annoying noise. I roll over and slowly drift off again. I hear my door creak open and I open one of my eyes to see who was there.

"Go away Austin!" I say in my groggy, sleep infested voice. He walks over to the end of my bed completely ignoring what I just said.

"Get up or I'll tackle you!" Austin shouts at me. I groan.

"I mean it Austin buzz off!" I say in a serious voice as I roll over to go back to sleep. The next thing I know I have Austin jump on top of me as he rips off my blankets.

"I was serious too!" He says as he gets off me. As he walked out the door he turned his head and smirked.

"I WILL GET YOU BACK FOR THIS AUSTIN!" I yell. I heard him laugh.

I sit up and force myself to get up and go to my ensuite. I looked in the mirror and sighed. Today was the first day of the new school year. It was my junior year. I rub my sleepy eyes as I walked to the shower and turned it on. I quickly washed my hair and hopped out and dried myself. I put my PJ's back on and I headed down stairs to have breakfast. I walk into the kitchen where mom and dad were sipping on their coffees.

"Good morning sweetie" Dad says to me as I open the cupboard and pull out the toaster.

"Good morning "I say glumly as I wait for my toast to pop up. Once it popped up I spread a thick layer of Nutella on the slice and I quickly eat it.

"Awh is little Skyler upset?" I hear Austin say behind me. I stick my middle finger up over my back at him. "That's not nice!" He yells laughing. I continue walking upstairs, completely ignoring what he just said. I walk into my spotless room and walk over to my walk I wardrobe. I look at a few of my clothing items till my eyes spot my backless teal dress. I smile and take it off from wear it was hanging. I walk over to my shoe collection and I choose a pair of white converses. I quickly change and then I walk into my ensuite and I straighten my dark chocolate brown hair and I apply my make-up. I smile in the mirror and then I walk back into my bedroom and place all my books in my bag and then I quickly grab my IPhone 6s+ off my bedside table. I walk downstairs where I am greeted by Austin at the front door.

"You driving?" I ask. He nods.

"Of course. You can drive tomorrow" He says negotiating so there won't be any bickering. I nod.

"Done deal." We walk out to our new sports car.

The car ride to school was silent. As usual the school carpark is packed. Once we managed to find a carpark I hop out of the car with my bag slung over one of my shoulders and my phone in my right hand. I walk up to the front doors and I enter the packed hallway.

"SKYLER OVER HERE!" I hear someone yell. I turn my head and I see my best friend Brooke Miller waving at me. I plaster a smile on my face and wave back as I walk over to where she was standing alongside Josh Turner, Austin's best friend.

"Hey Brooke!" I say as I give her a quick hug.

"Hey Sky!! How was your Summer Break?" Brooke says smiling as she looks at my dress.

"They was awesome except for the fact of Austin finding a new way every day to wake me up early! Anyways how were your holidays?"

"Oh really that must suck and my holidays were so peaceful!" We both start laughing.

"Austin my man!" We hear Josh say to Austin.

"Joshie my man!" Austin yells.

"Damn it man I thought I told you not to call me that!" Josh pouts. Austin, Brooke and I start laughing about how childish he was acting. Ding, Ding, Ding. There goes the bell signalling to head to homeroom. I wave goodbye to everyone and I walk to my locker. I unpack my bag and then I grab my pencil case, a new binder, a new notebook and my phone. I quickly lock my locker and walk to homeroom and I arrive with only a couple seconds to spare. I look around and my eyes land on Josh who is sitting up the back. I quickly sat down the seat next to him.

"Welcome back everyone! I hope you have had great holidays but now we all need to be quiet while I mark the roll and read out the bulletin!" Miss Patrick our homeroom teacher says. The classroom simmers down to a quiet whisper. "Okay everyone I am now handing out your Schedules! I expect now that you guys are now juniors that you won't lose this important bit of paper" When she finally gets around to me she places my schedule down and I have a quick look at what my classes are for today. Great. Art, Science, Maths and History. This is going to be a long day.

*Time Lapse to when Austin and Skyler get home*

I walk through the front door and I head upstairs. Ugh I hate the first day of school. We already have tons of homework and I still have to organise everything. Once I get into my room I set up a little corner of my room and I spread all of my school stuff on the floor. I organise everything.

It has taken me an hour to do all of my school stuff. I rush downstairs and I quickly cut up an apple and eat it.

"Skyler?" I turn around as Austin says my name. He looks extremely worried.

"Yes?" I reply nervously.

"Mum and Dad have been in an accident!"
