I woke up the next morning due to my alarm blaring. Rolling on to my side I grabbed my phone. Being blinded by the light I lowered it on my phone. I turned off my alarm. I checked my social medias and decided it was time to get up. It was only 6:00am. I got up did my morning routine. By now it was 6:15.
I slid on black mesh shorts and a white tank. I put on my running shoes and slid my phone into my pockets. I headed down the steps and saw my dad stretching. "Hey pops!" I said as I started to stretch too. "Why must you call me that?" He said laughing. I shrugged my shoulders. After stretching Dad and I headed out for our run.
We normally run in the mornings and I go to the gym after school with my best friend Kayla. After the gym, we normally head to the garage and work on our cars. You see we do street racing at our local tracks. My dad and my uncle own it. Dad plugged his ear buds in and started his music. I did the same and we headed out.
Thankfully we live in a warm state year-round. Thank you, Texas! So, it was always nice to run outside. Our runs usually last about 20/30 minutes that includes the stretching twice. After we did our morning run we ended up back at home. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed two water bottles. I tossed one to Dad as he passed me. I headed up stairs to get ready for today. It was Friday which means I had to go to school.
I got to my room and grabbed a pair of ripped shorts, one of my dad's t shirts he gave me and got my shower. After my shower, I let my hair dry naturally. I slid on my ripped jean shorts dads' gray shirt and a plaid shirt that was black and white.
I put on my black combat boots to finish the look. I put on little to no makeup. After I was satisfied with my look I grabbed my purse and went down stairs. Dad was making breakfast when I notice it was 7:30.
I don't need to leave until 7:50 so I had plenty of time to eat. "Are you going to the gym today?" Dad asked placing French toast on the table. "Yeah. Kayla needs to train for this weekend. And I missed the last workout. Why what's up?" I asked taking a bite. "So good!" I said covering my mouth when I spoke. I heard Dad chuckle. "I want you to meet the girl I've been seeing for the last month. Do you think your up for it?" He asked with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
Dad asked me if I was ok with him dating someone since it's been years since mom had passed. I am ok with him dating. I want my dad to be happy and I know mom would want that to. "If you're ready Dad, then I'm ready." I said smiling. He smiled and nodded his head. "How about dinner at 8:00 tonight?" He asked not looking at me.
"Perfect. After the gym, I was going to check on my race car and then come home. Gives me enough time to do everything and take a shower. Are we going out? Or staying in?" I asked taking my plate to the sink. "Going out. Just to let you know... she has a daughter your age." I don't know how I feel about that but I nodded my head anyway. "Shoot, gotta go daddy! Love you!" I said rushing out of the house it was 8:00. I still had to pick up Kayla and she's about 10/15 minutes away. Rushing out I grabbed my bag and one of the keys. Seeing it was dads I sent him a message.
Me- sorry I guess I'm taking the truck. Just grabbed a set. In a hurry, don't want to be late again!
I sent it and headed to Kayla and her moms' apartment. Pulling up I beeped my horn. I saw her running out in leggings and a white shirt with a sweatshirt over her arm. "Didn't feel like actually getting dressed today." She said climbing in the truck. I laughed and headed back out. I checked my phone and handed it to Kayla. "See if my dad texted me back." I said to her and she unlocked my phone.
Daddy- it's fine baby girl. I'll just take your jeep. I knew you were in a rush and didn't look when I saw your keys.
She said read back to me. Instead of replying I turned the phone on for music through Bluetooth. Sam Hunts 'Body Like A Backroad' started playing. I rolled down the windows and we turned it up loud. We pulled in just 10 minutes before the bell. I found a close spot and parked the truck. We got out and ran for our lockers.
