Beginning of the End

Chapter 1

I shall start by introducing myself, my name is Lilith Waters. I am 17 years old and have long black curly hair that reaches up to my waist. Everyone is intrigued by my eyes because they are a dark violet. I always wished that I had the same colored eyes as my younger brother Ian, his eyes always remind me of our mother. Ever since our parents have been killed by the new ruler of the kingdom I have taken it upon myself to take care of my dear brother, he is only 10 years old and I am frighten for him because he is vulnerable. He doesn't seem to understand that this world is dangerous and he is always so curious about new things.

Together my brother and I live deep in the forest because we are in hiding from King Stephen and we only make trips to a near town on rare occasions. I know how to hunt and the forest has never bothered me, my bother on the other hand is frighten of the dark. He only comes out of our somewhat "cottage" when there is a moon to light up the woods.

That night I went out to go hunting because we were short on food and I didn't want to make a trip to the town. First reason was because some guards might be on watch and they might recognize me, yes ladies and gentlemen I have stolen before and that's the reason they are after me. Second of all, I just didn't want to make that trip. I've always felt free in the forest, there's no reason to be afraid if you know what you are doing. Listening to the owls and wolves at night was like music to my ears. The moon was shinning so bright tonight, that made me smile. As I continued to search for food I heard a horse approaching. I decided to take cover up on a tree. This is odd, no one rode at night in the forest why is this rider so close to my cabin? I prepared my arrow and pulled back on my bow string. I felt adrenaline running through my veins. For some unknown reason the rider stopped right under the tree I was hiding in. I couldn't see the face of this mysterious person, but I could tell that the rider was a male from his body figure. I held my breath afraid that the rider would spot me at any moment. Then something unexpected happened, the rider got an astonishing flower out of his hood and left it by the tree that I was on. Then he road through the night and left me dumbfounded.

I cautiously came down from the tree that I was on and stared at the flower. It was a beautiful Delilah flower with pink in the center of it. I had never seen a flower with such grace and beauty. I picked it up and decided that we don't need food tonight, I can go hunting the following night.

As I neared my home I heard my little brother inside. " Is that you Lil? I thought I heard an animal outside" he looked out the door. " Yeah squirt it's me don't worry I will never let anything happen to you." I replied and entered the cabin that was near to falling apart. Ian ran to me and hugged me I responded by hugging him back and carrying him to our small room. The cabin only had a room and a small kitchen. " I thought you would have fallen asleep by now, what are you doing staying up so late?" I asked with worry. "Nothing I was just waiting for you, I always miss you when you are gone." he said in a sleepy voice.

"Get some shut eye squirt" I said. "Please don't leave Sis," he said in a whisper that could have been missed. Immediately I saddened and laid down next to Ian and wrapped him in my arms. "Hey don't worry I will always be here. Nothing can take you away from me. Here look what I found tonight" I handed him the flower that the rider left and I saw him smile. I hummed a melody and he feel asleep right away in my arms. " I will never let anything harm you" I promised and fell asleep.
