-Detroit Michigan, USA, 2017, Detroit Terrace apartments-
Nicole tossed and turned in her bed, denying the idea of attending school at a time of stress. Her older brother walked in and flicked the light on as he spoke in his monotone voice, "Come on, Dad's making breakfast..."

Nicole looked at him in disbelief as she mumbled, "At 4:30 am?"

"Yeah, he's been getting up earlier lately..."

Nicole hurled herself out of bed and threw on jeans, a tank top, and a hoodie. She continued her morning routine and sat down at the breakfast table. Her Dad sat a plate in front of her as he kissed her forehead. She quickly ate and brushed her teeth then headed out the door as she held tight to her older brothers hand.

-background information-
Nicole is only 11 and her brother is only 15. There parents are Divorced but there dad gained full custody. Her brother's name is Alex, or Alexander if you please.

-Nicole's school day-

Nicole was completely spaced out all day and didn't pay anyone any mind. At the end of the day she walked up to the highschool and met up with her brother. Today things were a bit different, they were told to go strait home after school and stay with each other.

-Detroit Terrace apartments-

Nicole unlocked the front door and stepped inside to the messy apartment. She hung her bag on the coat rack and sat down on the couch. Alex sat beside her as they both started reading.

A few minutes later there dad walked in the front door and set down good work supplies. He ruffled Nicole's hair as he sighed, "afternoon sweetheart..." She responded with a muffled, "hey..."

After a few minutes there dad stepped the living room and asked, "can you two head out to the car?"

Alex got up and grabbed the car keys from their dad, he then led Nicole downstairs while holding her hand tightly. Nicole got in the car as Alex started it. Just a few seconds later their dad came bustling out and got in the driver seat as Alex slid over into the passenger seat.
