The screeching sound of rubber burning on the road followed by stomach churning flips and rolls are haunting my brain. Darkness is slowly filling my eyes and head as I struggle to keep my eyes open, the sound of a distant V8 engine roars into the night. As the roar disappears out of range for my ears to pick up, nothing but silence overwhelms me as I helplessly sit in the wreckage of my BMW. "Somebody, anybody, p-please help me"...

I have no recognition of how I got to where I am and where I am in the first place. As I lay in the soft, silky sheets of this double bed, I hear faint voices coming from beyond the the large metal door closing off the outside world to this secluded room. "What the hell is going on, where am I and who are those people talking outside the door" I thought to myself.

The door opens wide and two ladies enter the room. Both dressed in white with special equipment round their necks. They looked stunned to see me awake and before they could even speak I quickly asked "what has happened to me, where am I?" Shocked to see me speak, the lady closest to my bed spoke softly, "you are in St Patrick's Hospital a few miles down the road from the border in Texas, involved in a serious accident. A passing army veteran saw your vehicle turned over in the middle of the road."

Before I could reply, the second lady spoke "the veteran brought you here himself and helped get you into safe hands. You have been in a coma for one whole month. It's no suprise you have no idea what happened, but not to worry. You are safe here and have been making steady progress. Especially after the operation."

"Operation? What operation?" I quickly replied with. "Well Sir, this will be hard to process but, we had to amputate your leg because it became trapped in the car. The veteran explained how he yanked you free from the wreckage causing excessive bleeding and would be completely useless in later life due. We are sorry to inform you of this but it is for the best. You will be fine and will be able to walk again once fully recovered with a prosthetic leg." she reassured.

I couldn't speak. I had nothing else to say, I just simply shut my eyes and exhaled deeply. "Get some rest, if you need anything, just pull this red chord next to your bed and assistance will be with you immediately." I didn't respond to her instantly. All I could think of was when I'd be able to leave this place and if I'd be able to carry on my life like I used to. I just wanted to remember everything and remember what caused me to be here.

I thanked the two ladies for their help, they smiled and left the room. My eyes filled up with tears, my body raging with anger and terror, I cried and cried for what seemed like forever. Endless tears flowing out of my sorrowful eyes, it was horrible. Trying to forget the last twenty minutes of my life, I shut my eyes and entered a deep sleep of nightmares and flashbacks.
