adam frowned slightly. the rain wouldn't let up...
he turned his attention to the clean mechanics area. what was there to do? no one to text, the reception was terrible, and it was a friday night. who was going to stay around just waiting for a text? blue and gansey were probably off an adventure.. ronan... who knew what he did, really?
he kicked up his shoes onto the counter, leaning back in his chair, closing his eyes. the rain pattered furiously, and the newcaster's voice drifted into the background music...
BANG
adam, startled, fell out his chair; was someone stranded and saw the mechanics station?
"open up, asshole, i'm freezing"
adam turned his attention to the small door, the voice aggravated and loud.
he made his way to the door, to reveal a shivering ronan, with a pizza box under an umbrella. without a word, he stepped to the side to let him walk in.
ronan set the pizza onto the counter, taking out a slice and biting off a piece, eyeing adam.
"what're you... doing?"
ronan gave him a stare. "what does it look like i'm doing? eating pizza."
"here, ronan. it's going to become a storm out there," adam said, sitting across ronan and grabbing a slice.
"hanging out with my stranded boyfriend! isn't it the most romantic plot you could think of?"
"no, actually, it's not," adam said, but grinned at his pizza. it was enough.
"seems like you're bored shitless here," said ronan, disinterested. "i was your knight in shining armour, wasn't i?"
"yeah," adam said, feigning surprise. "how'd you know to save me!"
"as a knight always does on his adventures. needs to find some girl and kiss her, or some shit. who comes up with these ideas?" he muttered to himself.
adam raised his eyebrows. "they're not that bad... for stories."
ronan leaned off the counter and licked his cheek. "your kiss, my princess."
adam grimaced, wiping his cheek. "gross. they don't do that in sleeping beauty."
"wasn't she dead?" mused ronan. "who kisses a corpse."
as the rain kept its steady rhythm, the newcaster still droning on about how long it'd be til it'd let up, ronan eyed adam. "so? what do we do now?"
adam glared at him. "you're the one who came. didn't you have an idea?"
"for someone smart, you lack common sense."
adam mused aloud, "truth or dare? always a classic."
ronan grinned. "oh, you've never played with me."
adam shifted his mouth to the side, a grin quirking out. "i'm sure it'll be an experience."
--
hours into the night, they dared and truthed each other. adam, wet from being dared to belt out twinkle, twinkle little star into empty air, and ronan, sweaty from being dared to stay ten minutes in a high temperature room. adam wondered if that'd hurt the heating system; if it did, he'd be the one paying later.
adam shivered across from ronan. "thanks, douchebag."
ronan grinned, sprawled on the floor. "let me warm you up."
positively glaring at the punk on the floor, he flopped down into his inviting arm. ronan enveloped him with another arm, murmuring into his ear. drowsy from his heat, adams eyelids drooped. his last memory being the pattering of the rain and ronan's scent.
--
blue glanced at gansey. "it's eight and adam hasn't answered his phone. was he stranded in the storm last night?"
gansey frowned. "i think he had a shift last night...? maybe he slept there and lost track of time."
blue shrugged. "best to check."
... was her thought before arriving to the scene of the crime. she sniggered while gansey swatted at her, disapproving yet grinning at the same time.
ronan and adam sprawled on the floor, entangled, sweaty and wet, for some reason, as if they'd ran around in the rain. would they have been stupid enough to...?
blue gave ronan a shove over, making him topple onto adam, who opened a drowsy eye, in confusion.
glaring, he pushed him off, staring at blue, who grinned proudly. he scooted away from ronan, standing up and 'brushing himself off'.
grumbling, ronan opened his own eyes, looking into the grinning face of blue sargent, with a sheepish adam looking back at him.
"who's gross now?" she teased.
