I regretted everything i'd done. I didn't mean to run over those kids. They just kind of ran out in front of me. One moment they were playing in their yard, the next they were under my car. I guess running over a mentally disabled child is enough to land you a nice fine and a hefty sentence. I was quickly tried, found guilty, and sentenced to 10 years.

My first year was aggressive, I became something i'm not. The other inmates kept pushing me, kept harassing me. They wouldn't shut up about what I did. Finally I just snapped and went at one of the inmates. He... didn't make it, I was immediately dubbed dangerous, and a threat to myself and others.

The guards picked me up and took me down to solitary confinement. Still fueled by rage I hung against the inch tall by one foot wide slot and swore explicitly vulgar words at them. After that I ran at the wall and punched it hard with my right hand. My more non-dominant hand, even though I was ambidextrous I had always preferred my left over my right. "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK." I punched the wall until my hand was bloody, i'm sure at this point I had broken a few knuckles.

At which point I had cooled down I took a few deep breaths and walked over to the sink. I splashed water on my face and gently washed my hand. I sat on my bed and though about my life so far. I went to bed feeling unsettled, the next day I woke up at noon when my food was slid through the slot and dropped onto the floor because I wasn't there to catch it. My hand was bruised and crooked, i'd have them get me a doctor later.

Most of my afternoon was spent picking up my lunch off the floor and begrudgingly eating it while cradling my hand in my lap. I cleaned up the floor with a washcloth I had been given previously, I rinsed it in the sink and come dinner I was there to catch it.

It was about the third day I finally demanded a doctor, I wasn't allowed to leave so I, annoyed, stuck my hand through the slot as the physician looked at my mangled hand. He pronounced it broken and put it on a brace to help, even though it probably wouldn't. I went to sleep forgetting about my dinner, drugged off pain pills I had received.
