"Taeil! Wow, so long without seeing each other," he exclaimed. He had grown over the summer, he used to be just an inch taller than me, now he was at least 4 inches taller.

"And you grew!" I exclaimed.

"So ... do you have any classes with Chaerin?" He asked with a wink. I nodded happily.

"Algebra and biology, the two subjects struggles at so they can have their own personal tutor," I proudly said, returning the wink.

"And who's going to be her tutor?" He asked, nudging my shoulder as we both laughed.

"Oh, Taeil. You'll never quit trying, right?" Kyung said. I shook my head.

"Getting struck by lighting is probably more possible than that," I assured.

"You must really like her."

"Truly and sincerely."

"Taeil, I hope she notices you one day," he said.

"You know, I hope so too," I replied with a sigh. I've liked Chaerin since last year, she's so beautiful, and not just that, I know she's extremely kind and unique.

To me, she's flawless. Every time I go near her, my heart flutters, but she won't see that. She can't see I truly like her and I want a chance to show her my love. Kyung patted my back and gave me a smile.

"We gotta go to class, we'll be late," Kyung said. I nodded as I waved good-bye to him and entered my next class.

I didn't see Chaerin until my 6th class, and this time, the seats were seated in pairs. I was early to the class so I took out my journal to keep writing. A couple of seconds later, I felt the presence of someone standing next to the empty next to me. I looked up to see Chaerin, standing there, looking at me like I was a monster.

"Have a seat, I don't bite," I told her happily.

"But I do," she muttered, taking a seat next to me. I quickly put my journal away so she won't see it.

I try to be kind to her, talk to her an let her know my feelings, but she just won't let me into her heart. Being myself and trying my best is the best thing I could do.

"Assigned seats, you gotta love them," I told her with a smile.

"Only nerds like them."

"I must be the nerd king, then."

"I can tell."

"Nerd doesn't mean ugly."

"Doesn't mean handsome, either."

"It can mean a kind smart person, and in my case, someone who likes the girl he's sitting next to."

"Um, first of all, a nerd is a nerd. And stop bothering me."

"But I'm just talking to-"

"Then don't talk to me!" She shrieked. At that, my heart sank for the nth time. No worries, I'm used to it. I nodded and didn't talk to her until she broke our silence in the middle of class.

"I'm sorry I yelled at you." She said in an annoyed tone. She usually does this, says something without thinking and then apologizes or makes up for it when she calms down. That's one of the million reasons why I like her, she can never stay mad at someone and she ends up being nice to them.

"How do you like biology so far?" I asked her.

"As much as I like you," she said, rolling her eyes.

"That must be a lot," I replied with a smile.

"Keep dreaming, kid."

"I'm older than you."

"Not by a lot, I bet."

"Still older."

"UGH! This is why you're so annoying!" She shrieked at me.

"Because I'm older than you?" I asked, knowing that wasn't it. She groaned and face palmed. She looks so pretty when she's frustrated, yet looks like a goddess when she smiles.

Sadly, I can never make her smile. The only thing I can do is make her mad and roll her eyes. I really wish I could make her smile one day, at least a tiny bit.

When I got home, I grabbed a snack from the kitchen and headed to the dining table. My mom happened to be there too, eating a mango.

"Taeil! How was your first day of school?" She asked with a bright smile.

"Great!" I exclaimed.

"Any classes with Chaerin?"

"Two, actually."

"That's good!"

"Mom, do you think she'll notice me one day?" I asked her, feeling a little hopeless inside. I have months trying to at least be friends with here, and sometimes I think I'm not trying hard enough.

"Taeil, if you try and try and love her with all your heart, she will. Maybe she hasn't seen how much of a great person you are, but she will some day," my mom told me with sincerity. I sighed at her answer.

"Well Mom, I'm like a mango. Weird looking on the outside, but sweet on the inside," I replied with a smile, looking at the mango she had in her hands. She chuckled.

"Oh Taeil, you're handsome, you just need eye contacts instead of those huge glasses, plus change your hair. And you'll get your braces off soon," my mom said. I shook my head.

"I like being myself," I said, touching my glasses frame proudly. My mom chuckled.

"You're one of a kind, son," she said.

"Yessir, I'm one of a kind~" I started singing the song," One Of A Kind" by G-Dragon.

When I finished eating my snack, I headed upstairs to do my homework. After I finished, I got my journal out and started writing again.

'No, that sounds weird,' I thought to myself, erasing some parts to it.

'Maybe this? No .. ah-hah! That!' I thought, writing it down.

I decided to take a break from it when I got a call from Kyung.

"Hey Taeil! Get on Xbox!" He exclaimed.

"Do you really want me to beat you on it that bad?" I replied with a chuckle.

"Whatever, let's play!" Kyung exclaimed. I hung up and turned the Xbox on, ready to beat Kyung.
