The war had started.
People saw it coming ages ago, a bloody battle between the greatest Kingdoms. Between the greatest Kings. Among the bravest men.

A war fought on the grounds of deeply rooted hatred. A strong foundation of misunderstandings and lies.

The real cause?

No one, but the kings knew about it.

King Lionas, with his army of 10000 men and beasts, marched towards the boundaries of the kingdom that was in the midst of a celebration.

King Reynolds, on the other hand, had no clue about the doom that was about to fall on his lands.

While he rejoiced and drank on the occasion of the birth of his first son; the army of Lionas got closer to start the bloodshed.

Nobody knew when or how it happened. The war had started and there wasn't a thing anyone could do to stop it.

People were dying by the arrows of the uninvited guests.

Lionas knew it would be the perfect time to strike.

He had a plan.
A plan that made the heavens shudder at its cruelty.

The wind hollered, heavens shook.
Nothing stood still at the moment, as the massacre went by.

King Reynolds had his sword out, to kill anyone he could. His army, stationed there at the moment, did anything in their power to stop the bloodshed.

But Lionas didn't intend to take upon the army.
No.
He wanted the royals slain. He wanted to royal blood to spill, while he laughed at his victory.

He ordered his men to capture Reynolds and bring him inside the castle. He wanted to execute his plan as soon as possible.

The king was captured,
outnumbered by ten swords around his neck.
He was brought inside the castle, while the battle went on outside.

There, right beside the throne, stood Lionas. The cruelest smile playing on his lips.

"Ah, Reynolds! Dear old friend. How nice to see you." Lionas bowed low in a mock curtsey.

He rounded the throne eyeing it longingly.

"What are you doing Lionas? We settled on war peace!" Reynolds said struggling in the clutches of the chains.

"War peace? How did you ever think there would be peace between us?" Lionas said walking towards Reynolds.

"There's been bad blood between our kingdoms since the beginning of time. Ever since you stole what was ours." He said giving him a hard punch on his face.

"It was never yours, to begin with. We took what rightly belonged to us. To Draco." Reynolds said spitting the blood on his face.

"Draco was foolish. So are you. And now the time has come, that we put an end to this."

"Bring them in," Lionas ordered his men.

Not a moment had passed and Reynolds saw his world crashing into pieces, right in front of his eyes.

His family, bound in chains, was pushed in by Lionas' men.

"Lionas no! The war is between us. They haven't got anything to with it." Reynolds said tugging hard at the chains that held him back.

"The war is between us. Yes. And your family just got caught up in the middle. I'm afraid they'll have to pay the price of the wrongs that your ancestors did." He laughed the most vicious laugh ever, and said,

"Spare the girl, kill the rest."

"NO!" That was the only thing Reynolds could do.

And right in front of his eyes, his family was murdered in cold blood.

His wife, his son. All gone. Forever.

And as Lionas laughed at his victory, right in front of the sixteen-year-old princess, her father was killed.

That was the last time she heard the joyful notes of the song she'd loved so dearly.
