Youth

In youth my life was joy

I played, and strode forward innocently

Happiness was all that was known

Then the cold tendrils of life caught up to me

I ran and ran, but they caught me

I stumbled and fell for they had ensnared me

They changed me

Malformed me

Into the hideous monster known as an adult

In youth my life was joy

Now all I know is pain
