  Catapults have been used by the Greeks, Romans, and Chinese.  People back in the days used it for attacking and invading castle. The catapults had been invented in 400 BCE it was invented in Syracus a town in Greek. The first catapult is called the Gastraphete. Greeks were so impresses with the destruction they had invented the bigger and the more improve one called Ballista.

This is a Gastraphete it is also called the belly bow a version of a cross bow, it was one of the first catapult and because of this invention there is the Ballista.      

And this is a Ballista it is the second version of the catapults
