Prologue

I brought the cigarette to my lips and inhaled the familiar smoke.
"Alex what the hell are you doing?" My step dad demanded as I exhaled. I shrugged and rested my head on the cold brick wall behind me.
"Smoking I suppose."
He narrowed his eyes and charged towards me, pinning me to the wall. My glare shot to him and I knew he could see my anger. He didn't loosen his hold however, and that seemed to make me even more angry. With what might have been a snarl I brought my cigarette to his neck and burned him.
He yelled in both pain and anger, releasing me to grip his neck. I blew more smoke in his face before dropping my cigarette to the ground and walking away from the scene.
"Alex just wait till you get home!" He warned. I rolled my eyes and snickered as I walked the dark streets of my neighborhood. I hadn't always acted like this. I suppose it's a long story. One you might just be lucky enough to hear.
