He Likes Me...

Max POV

"Okay class, I will pick your partners because obviously you don't know how to get work done with your friends."

Great. Can't even be partners with the only people I know. I look at Hayden and Ryan. They look back at me with sad faces.

"Ryan Crit and Hayden Crit will be partners."

Well, they're lucky. Brother and sister being paired together. Coach only paired them because they fight all the time. Oh god. Its my turn.

"Max Parker and Ace Black will be partners."

Just my luck. The guy who always smells like weed. I look back at him. He looks up from his phone and right at me. That stupid but cute smirk is on his face. I mean, I don't particularly like him, but I will not deny that he is decent looking.

Coach explains the project. Apparently we have to go outside and test our athletic abilities. Easy for Ace, Ryan and Hayden. Hard for me. I mean, I have an ok build, but I'm not really the athletic type. Ace's Instagram says he's an athlete, Ryan's been running all his life and Hayden does dance. And I'm just here.

We get up to go to the field. I walk behind him. He turns around to me and stops walking.

"What exactly are we supposed to do for this project?" Clueless as always.

"Measure athletic abilities. Core Strength, upper body strength, and cardiovascular endurance. Easy."

"I got all of those. Just wait and see." He winks and continues to walk. My heart started racing. I try not to show it. He might think I like him.

We get outside and coach lets us go do Our work. Ace records my scores first. Let's just say, they were terrible. I fell while running and he laughed I only got through 30 sit ups and 8 push ups. Great.

His turn comes. He does 30 push ups and 60 sit ups. He does it like its no problem. He starts running. We have to run as long as we while the other times. He's been running for a good two minutes now. He looks like he can do anything. Literally anything. He starts to run towards to the wooded area.

"Come on! I see something!" He calls out. I sigh, drop the clipboard and pen and start to run after him. he stops me behind a tree.

"Dude why are we even here? Wh-"

"Sh, look" he pointed to two squirrels. At first it looked like the were fighting but, nope. They were having sex.

"Ew. Dude, ur sick."

"Its a natural part of life." He looked at me. "What if we were the squirrels?" Did he just..... Oh my lord. He started walking towards me. I walked back until I was back to back with a tree. He leaned in closer. My breath hitched as his face inched closer to mine.

"Parker! Black! Get out the woods. We're going inside." I jumped as the coach yelled.

"Tell anyone and you will regret it. Trust me." Ace ran out of the woods leaving me alone. Was he going to... kiss me? I shook the thought off. He wasn't. He's straight. I ran out the woods and joined the rest of class.
