i met god in a convenience store / sometime between today and tomorrow / she was dressed in all white / and looked like she'd been pulled from another century / and she was clutching at the string of pearls wound 'round her neck / like they were gonna choke her out

i fought god in a back alleyway / one sunday afternoon / he was so full of fury / with bruises blooming on his cheeks / and a mouth full of blood that he spit across the pavement

i kissed god in the woods behind my house / he was a sweet boy with a gentle touch / and eyes that had seen more than their share of suffering / when i kissed him he tasted like honey and wild cherries
