The four of us ducked down next to the dumpster. I scanned the area anxiously, eyes jumping form one place to the next. It was cold and dark and i could tell Mia was exhausted, we all were. Her once bright blonde hair now a pale blond sticking to her neck and forehead with sweat. her face was stricken with exhaustion. After running for days on end. I didn't blame her, I couldn't blame her. 'God she was to young to be dragged into something like this. i felt sorry for her i really did. God if i hadn't been so stupid.'
'It was all my fault, all of this was my fault. If I hadn't involved them..if...if I....if I hadn't......I shook my head, I couldn't think about this now. We needed to find some place safe to spend the night. If we didn't find some place soon, we could be swarmed by those rabid vampires.
"Ruby?", Sam whispered in a harsh gruff tone. "Yeah.. right..sorry", I managed to mumble."Let's just keep moving. Okay ?". Ryan grabbed my shoulder, giving it a light squeeze for encouragement. "Let's go.". We moved, slowly and quietly across the street hoping not to draw any attention to ourselves. Mia was moving slower than the rest of us, I slowed my pace letting her catch up. The boys noticed and slowed their pace as well so we wouldn't fall behind.
We spent most of the night traveling through the broken and abandoned city. we raided a few places but didn't really find anything useful, a few tins of food here and there and some old cloths. As i said there wasn't much but a least we were able to change out of our old bloody and dirt crusted cloths.
Eventually after hours of searching, walking and raiding houses and stores we came across an old abandoned building, it looked like i could of once been a school. It wasn't much but it provided more shelter and protection then anything else we came across that night. Besides we were all to tired to argue with Sam when he had suggested it. It was close to sun rise and we all needed the rest.
-------------------------
That day my sleep was restless, I tossed and turned. I couldn't get comfortable, I couldn't stop thinking about how 'it was all my fault that the others were dead. if that had never meet me... they would still be alive now.' i sighed and turned over onto my side. in a way I was glad I didn't get to sleep, when ever I did sleep i was confronted by my past and those night terrors that always manage to shake my from my sleep.
But in some strange was I was also glad that these night terrors would visit me in my sleep, because you see there is one thing worse than my night terrors and my normal hunting nightmares, it's those beautiful dreams containing all that you could crave and hope for but when you wake up and you realize it all was just a dream completely separate from you own reality, That is was is truly heart crushing in this world.
