His heart hammering in his chest, Syn’s face contorted to a mask of petrification. He had always strayed to the border, watched the humans, studied them, but to leave the safety of the wood was something he had never even considered doing.
“But they’ll kill me!” Was the only coherent thing Syn could think of saying. He was certain every ounce of fear he felt, betrayed him in those four words.
“Are you so certain of that, Syn? Does your heart tell you not to accept your fate? Or is it simply the fear you are clinging to so desperately?”Old Mother asked in a voice that made the unique fae question himself.
