She and I were inseparable.

Everyday we would meet at the same spot in the playground(the climbing pen) and we would laugh about whatever until recess was over.

Then one day, a thought hit me, 'What if we went somewhere else to play, rather than the place we already were?'

I swear we were there for so long, it put snapchat streaks to shame.

But nonetheless, I held the thought back because I didn't know how she would react.

So days passed, but the thought kept pooping into my adolescent brain. I couldn't take another day of the place, so I finally came out with it.

And... it didn't go so well.

She ended up being passive aggressive about it, and told me since she wanted to stay at her little safe haven, so we might as well go and find other people to play with.

Looking back at it I see how much it resembles an adult relationship, but what would I know about that.

But instead of realizing she was hurt, and thinking she meant what she said  out of the pureness of her heart, I told her it was a great idea.

Probably my biggest mistake yet.

I trudged to the sandbox behind to fence with a little giddy smile on my face. I picked out one of the the sandcastle shapers and started to make my piece of art.

Later though I saw her running around with a girl I had been acquainted with. I walked up and asked how she was feeling. I swear I could never forget how her face turned to me and formed the word "Fine." It was almost as if she'd told me she didn't like my drawing in art class, and yet I was still oblivious.

Days past and we still weren't together. She started taking to the other girl more frequently and in a blink of an eye I was replaced. They were best friends. Though me and her ended up talking again we never formed the relationship we once had together again.

And I would do anything to go back and change that.
