What the hell

Chapter 1

Neo loves heights and the thrill that comes with it. She has always gotten into a lot of trouble when she would climb up trees and buildings, but she would never fall.

Even now in the top of this tall tree she feels safe, but that's probably because of her secret. She feels no fear nor pain, no matter how hard she tries she can feel neither. No matter how much she cuts her wrists she can't feel it and her skin heals faster than the average human, the silver scars however remain to remind her of the pain she can't feel.

There are only two places she feels happy which is at the highest possible place she can be and the secluded untouched parts of nature. Right now, she is in her favourite spot, sitting in the tippy top branches of a silver tree with green leaves that turn a blood red in autumn and fall off in winter. The gigantic tree is in the middle of a clearing not too far from her house and she frequently visits the tree to decorate the branches with beads and dream catchers

She absolutely loves the tree and voices out her daily problems here, so when both of her parents were brutally murdered the first place she went to was the tree. Right here in the top, she could see the surrounding forest and the top of her house, the site of the murder.

---flashback---

Neo has finished the day at school and was walking home, she has a heap of homework to do but she probably won't end up doing it as she can't be bothered and has anime to watch. Yes. Neo is a huge anime watcher. Name it and she has watched it, subbed, dubbed and even original.

But anyway, right now she is walking up to her front door and her waist long brown hair blows around in her face as she goes to insert the key but stops when she realises the door is ajar. Gently she pushes it open making it creak and echo throughout the house.

"Hello?...Mum?...Dad?" She called out but there was no answer. Carefully, she walks through the hall and up the stairs where her parents room is. She calls out to them again but there is still no answer so she walks over the soft grey carpet and catches a glimpse out of the side of her eye of something red in the bathroom.

Her head turns and her forest green eyes widen in horror at the sight before her.

Neo screams and runs towards her bloody mother. She desperately pushes her fingers against her mums neck trying to find a pulse while holding down heart wrenching sobs that rack her body.

Neo removes her bloodied fingers from her mothers neck having not found a pulse and fumbles around in her pockets trying to find her phone.

With tears blurring her vision she walks out the bathroom and falls over something causing her to lose the grip on her phone, sending it flying down the stairs and her face to connect with the floor. Blood runs from her broken nose and she looks at what she tripped over only to scream again as she sees her fathers head, without a body, staring at her with cold lifeless eyes.

She scrambles away and tumbles down the stairs breaking her arm in the process. Once she comes to a rest at the bottom of the stairs, her arm is laid out at a funny angle and blood is running down her face from a wound in her forehead. Slowly she attempts to get up but only gets to a sitting position as the dizziness is too much for her, she grabs her arm and yanks it straight. Not being able to feel pain, no sound came from her mouth as a loud crack echoes throughout the house.

She can feel the bone, muscles and skin moulding and knitting back together.

She sees her phone and picks it up, swiping across the screen she unlocks it and calls the emergency number. She tried to talk through her sobs but couldn't get anything but a few strangled cries out.

"It's ok honey. Calm down and tell me what's wrong?" the lady on the other end says. Hearing the reassuring voice Neo calms down a little but tears still fill her vision and she tells the lady about her dead parents and where she lives. The lady keeps talking to her, to help her calm down until the police and ambulance arrive.

The police stayed there for quite a while and asked her many questions while the paramedics took her parents dead bodies out of the house on trolleys with sheets covering them. Her house was a crime scene so she couldn't stay there and had been told to go stay at a family or friends house.

Neo however has no friends, and the last of her family is dead. Being 17 there wasn't much she could do and she still had the rest of this year in school to go and she didn't want to rely on anyone so she decided to lie to the police.

She told them she was going to stay at a friends house down the road so she packed most of her stuff and walked down the road making it seem like she was going into town, but she was actually going to the tree. Once she was out of sight she had walked into the forest and made her way to the tree.
