{In case you're wondering, how you say her name it's may-a, not my-a}

*flashback*
"Maya! You always have a spare suitcase packed, right?!" My mom screamed to me as I flinch. "Yes mother! Why do you ask?" I yell back, closing my laptop from watching Shane Dawson. "Well honey, you're going to be staying at my lovely friends house for about two months!" She calls back, happiness evident in her voice.

I almost choked on my spit as I heard what my mother had just said to me. "Wait, what?!" I screech back, instantly jumping up from my bed and stomping down the stairs. She looks at me, a wide smile on her face.

"I was just offered a BIG promotion for my job! I'm getting paid about four more times than normal!" She squealed excitedly. I couldn't help but smile, my mom was such a teenager sometimes. Then my mood snaps out of it and focuses back on what she had just said to me.

"I can't believe you mom! Why can't I stay home, I'm seventeen helloooo!" I say, raising my arms to my chest. "Two whole months Maya, you are not being alone for two months" she scolds me, her smile still there. "But I have Hannah to keep me company!" I reason, huffing in the process.

She gives me a stern look, her smile slowly dropping, "Maya, I said you aren't staying alone and I mean it. You're staying with my friend Hailey, you remember her right?" I roll my eyes, "barely." She rolls her eyes before throwing me my phone charger, which I catch cause I could.

"Get ready, we're leaving in an hour." My mouth opens wide and I shake my head, "hell no, I'm not going." My mom glared at me, "Maya Delaney Lincoln you're going whether you like it or not." I turn around and begin to make my way to the stairs, "I won't get ready."

"I'll make you go in what your wearing and send you there with no other clothes or accessories" she snapped back. I turn to her and stick up my middle finger, "god, I hate you!"

I snap out of my memory as I feel the car halt to a stop.

"I'm not going in" I pout, folding my arms across my chest and sticking my feet up on her dashboard. She sighs and looks me in the eye, "Maya please, just for this once cooperate." I instantly snap my head in her direction, surprisingly not getting whiplash.

"I've been cooperating! You're the one who hasn't" I say, throwing my arms up in defeat. "Maya! I've been trying my best! I'm sorry I have to leave, I'm earning money for you and me to go get a bigger house, I don't need your attitude with it" she snaps back at me, my face turning into a scowl. I turn away from her and look out the car window, staring at the house I was staying at.

"Come on, I have to go Maya! Please!" My mom whined to me, grabbing my hand. I don't turn around but just close my eyes and sigh, "fine." She let's go of my hand and I hear her unbuckle me and I feel her arms cascade around me.

"Maya, this means so much to me. I love you very much and I'll try to call as much as I can, alright?" She says to me as I hear a couple sniffles. I turn to her and give her a weak smile, "promise?" She nods her head as her tears begin falling and my heart breaks at her face.

I wrap my arms gently around her and rest my head on her shoulder. "I love you mom, and I'm gonna miss you a lot" I breathe to her, my chest shaking over the break down I was having. She hugs me tighter and a little laugh escapes her, "Maya don't cry honey, I'll be back sooner than you realize." I nod my head slowly, burying my face in her shoulder, not wanting to let go.

I gaze out at the house once more before taking a deep breathe and letting go of my mom. She smiles at me and pats my shoulder, "I'll call you once I land and once I take off, okay?" I briskly nod my head before turning my hand to the door handle. She kisses my cheek and smiles once again, "I love you, I hope you have a good time." I smile back, "I love you much more."

I open the door and step out, glancing back up at her. She just stays smiling as I slowly close the door. I finally shut it and watch her wave at me, ushering me to go. I sigh heavily and grip my bag tightly, turning away and walking. As I glance around at the decent size house I notice something that was moving.

Wait no. Someone.

The figure turns his head as he hears me approaching and I widen my eyes. Hell no. Hell no. Please no.

I back up slowly and then turn around and start to run. I then see my mom speeding off down the road, away from me. I stop running and I mentally cry. I felt a tap on my back and I jump and turn around to face the person I was avoiding.

"Um, you're Maya right?" He asked, his deep throaty voice barely above a whisper. I'm stuck, frozen. I don't know what to say or do so I do the one thing that comes to my mind.

I scream.

I screamed so loud that I saw him flinch and his face had a scowl placed upon it. "Listen cupcake, I don't know why you just screamed but-"

"D-Did you just call me cupcake?" I breathe, already feeling my cheeks flare with heat. He glances at my now red cheeks and smirks, satisfactory filling his eyes.

"Why yes I did, there a problem cupcake?" I can practically hear the smirk behind his voice, he doesn't even have to show it. I suddenly became self conscious and I played with my now numb fingers from standing out in the cold so long.

"I'm sweeter than a cupcake" I say, surprised at myself as I say it. He raised a brow, as though not expecting that response as much as I wasn't. He clears his throat before grinning,

"welcome to my humble abode cupcake."
