"Rowan! Hey, Rowan. Wake up already, lunch is over." My best friend Vincent says, kicking me lightly. I often fall asleep on the roof of the school during lunch. I'm a teacher's assistant during third period and the only available teacher to TA for was the botanical teacher. He's in charge of the garden kept on the roof, thus, I was given a spare key for safekeeping.

"Over already?" I ask in a scratchy deep voice. He nods in response. "I wouldn't have eaten anyway," I mumbled. Vincent always wakes me up when lunch was over. It's like he's my mother or something. I sluggishly sit up from my laying position, shielding my eyes as I do so.

"Come on, man." He says, reaching out his hand to help me up. I take it and I launch upward from my sitting position. "Fifth period is about to start. If we don't hurry up, Mr. Macklemore is gonna get hella pissed." He grins, walking away and beckoning me to follow him. Vincent has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. He always seems to be there to clean up my mistakes. I kind of feel bad for the guy. We are what you could consider... 'The Nerdy Guys', I suppose. Vincent is Korean, 5'9" and an excellent hacker. I suppose he was fairly attractive, I don't know. It's not something I pay attention to. He seemed to get a lot of attention from the K-Pop obsessed chicks around the school. I'm 5'11" with dirty blond hair. My face is okay, I think. Am I attractive? Maybe. Even if I was, I probably fucked up any and every chance I had with the girls I've met in my lifetime with my mouth.

I'm a hacker as well, which is how I met Vincent in the first place. We were both interested in surfing the deep web. It wasn't an obsession... more of a hobby. We just liked the thrill of cracking another code, seeing the admin's reactions when their 'membership only' websites had been invaded. We found everything from taxidermied humans to the more common live-streamed killings. Call us crazy, but we didn't watch it for the death, that was just something we tolerated. "Snap out of it," Vincent says, waving his hand in front of my face. We had reached the Algebra 2 classroom. Before we entered, he stuck out his hand in front of me. "Hey," he whispered. "What alias do you plan on using tonight? I want to know what name to look for on that one website we wanted to try." He finishes. I look upward, thinking of what nickname I would use when for a chat website we'd been looking into.

"TheLure1sM3," I reply in a hushed voice. He nods, and cracks open the door to the classroom. "Yes! Before the bell." I breathed in relief, rushing to my spot at the back of the classroom. Mr. Macklemore walks in just as Vincent and I take our spots.

"Juniors!" He called out. His deep voice, booming and echoing throughout the classroom. "We have a new student. Treat her well." He pauses, and covers the side of his mouth with a folder, "She's foreign." He whispers. The classroom full of 17-year-olds chuckles. Their laughter is soon put to a pause when the new transfer student walks into the classroom. She's short, maybe 5'3", with long black hair down to her rather nice ass. She was pale, so much so you could see the blue tints of her veins. The transfer student turns to the class, revealing piercing blue eyes.

"Hello, my name is Lynette Acosta. I'm from France." She said in perfect English. Guess she's not that  foreign. I thought.

"Why don't you tell us why you moved here Lynette." The teacher said butchering her name.

"I had to move here because..." She stops. "My parents died, so I had to move here with my American family." She finished, looking down.

"Well! That was depressing. Please take your seat, Ms. Acosta." Mr. Macklemore interrupts the silence. Lynette takes a seat in the front row. She's so far away from me. I think, resting my chin on my hand and staring at her. I hear Vincent chuckle from my right. I glance at him, but he turns around, laughing at full volume now. "Mr. Kim!" The teacher shouts at Vincent. "Is something funny? I'm sure you'd love to share." He says.
