"Are you sure about this, James?" Sirius asked, hurrying after his best friend.

"I'm positive. We've all looked at the Full Moon charts. And it's always once a month on the full moon that Remus leaves." James said. "He's a werewolf, it's the only explanation."

"We don't hate him do we?" Peter squeaked.

"I don't. Bloody annoyed he didn't tell us, we are his friends after all. But I don't see a problem. He's a smart, respectable and very mischievous boy." James said. "And not to mention our friend."

The boys fell silent. They were searching the school for Remus, they had to ask him if their guess was right. And if it was, nothing would change. They'd still treat him the same, but be more understanding of his condition.

"Wish he had told us." Sirius said. "I thought we could trust him."

"It's not something you can scream from the rooftops." Peter said. "He would probably think we'd want him dead."

"Well we aren't the rest of the Wizarding World though, are we?" James snapped.

After ten more minutes of searching, they had given up; Remus wasn't anywhere. They headed back to their dorm, only to find Remus sitting on his bed, happily reading. At the sound of their footsteps, Remus looked up from his book and smiled.

"There you guys are! I've been wondering where you went off to." Remus said happily. But the happiness faded when he saw the serious expressions on their faces. What's wrong?" he asked nervously.

"Remus, we want to ask you something, and all we want is for you to be truthful." James said.

Remus paled; they knew, they knew his secret, and now they were going to kick him out.

"Yeah? Go on." Remus said.

"Are you a werewolf?" Sirius asked quickly.

Remus didn't say anything. He just avoided their eyes by looking out the window at the sinking sun.

"Remus?" Peter urged. "Are you?"

"Yes, alright. I'm a bloody werewolf. A savage, bloodthirsty, disgusting werewolf!" Remus cried, jumping up. "Happy, now you know? Going to kick me out? going to turn everyone against m-"

"Remus stop." James said. The three boys were shocked by Remus's outburst, this wasn't like him.

"Why aren't you running away. I should disgust you. You should be terrified." Remus cried.

"Remus, we-"

But Peter never got to finish his sentence, because Remus ran past them all, hiding his face, keeping himself within himself. Peter, James and Sirius all looked out the door, shocked expressions on their faces. The conversation hadn't gone as they had planned.

"Well that went well." James sighed, sitting on his bed.

"What do we do now?" Peter asked.

"We wait." James said.

Remus lay alone by the lake, looking up at the cloudy midnight sky. He preferred cloudy nights; more mystery to imagine what's out there, waiting in the shadows.

His face was hot and sticky from all the tears. He had tried so hard to stop his friends from finding out what he truly was, but he'd failed.

"They're probably packing my things now. Telling everyone. Protesting to get me thrown out." Remus thought. "Maybe I should just run away tonight. They won't miss me. I'm a monster."

And before he knew it, tears were streaming down his face again. Remus lay face down on the grass. Letting the soft green blades stroke his face, like a motherly affection.

Lost in the forest of green, Remus didn't hear the soft footsteps of someone advancing. It was only when they spoke, that he realized he could no longer enjoy the night by himself.

"Remus, what the heck are you doing out here. Come inside, its warm." A familiar sounding person said.

Remus lifted his head in shock, meeting the grey eyes of none of than Sirius Black. Gasping, Remus scurried backwards, away from the shaggy haired boy.

"Remus? I'm not scared of you, and there is no reason why I should be." Sirius said calmly. "You aren't a monster, you're just a boy."

"A boy who can kill." Remus sobbed. "I could kill you all. You should be afraid of me. You should hate me. You should want me dead."

"Friends don't wish the deaths of their other friends." Sirius said. "And you, Remus, are a great friend of mine. A best friend in fact."

"How aren't you disgusted by me?" Remus asked, still sobbing.

"Because I see the beauty within people. Beauty that shines so bright that it blinds them from seeing it themselves." Sirius said. "And you are completely blinded. Look, I don't care. Peter doesn't care. James doesn't care. We all don't care that you're a werewolf, Remus. We won't tell anyone. Now come on, its freezing out here and I won't let you get a cold because you are being stupid."

Remus sniffed. He was sure it was a trap to lure him inside and kill him. But the softness and kindness coming from Sirius's tone convinced him that they all truly were still his friends.

Wiping his face, Remus stood up shakily and walked towards Sirius who had stood up. Before he could turn towards the castle, Sirius had pulled him into a hug. A hug, Remus won't admit, that was well needed.

"We could never hate you." Sirius whispered soothingly into Remus's ear.

"Thank you." Remus whispered back.

Walking side by side, the two friends walked back up the to castle. Remus was hesitant, but encouragements from Sirius helped him into their shared dorm. Remus was surprised to see that James and Peter were waiting for them.

"Look, Remus. We don't care that you are what you are. Stuff happens, we move on." Peter said when all four boys were standing in the room. "You are our friend, no matter what."

James nodded in agreement. "Pete's right. We aren't afraid of you, Remus."

"You should be, I'm a monster." Remus sniffed.

"You fold your socks and underwear. Forgive me, Remus, for not trembling at the sight of you." James said.

Remus couldn't help but chuckle. Peter, Sirius and James joined in, and soon, all four were in uncontrollable hysterics.

"Are we friends again?" Remus asked once he'd calmed down.

Sirius replied, "Who said we stopped?"
