Sometimes, I wonder if we are lucky to be alive or dead.
We lived in the land of Zypcia, a captivating country with stunning nature surrounded by clear waters. A country that woke up with the sunrise and started working at its utmost potential. Our advanced technology enabled us to use space cars in transport and the latest solar panels for energy.
Since the past month, the influence of Tech Rush, a fierce competition, spread across our country. Our working class was exceeding their labor hours with their own will to introduce the utmost technological weapons in the world. The whole country took a uniform action to win this Tech-battle against our biggest opponent, Mirien.
Before long, the most advanced yet deadly weapons were being developed by our scientists to prove our power to Mirien. People were convinced to put their hands in and enhance a strong military with latest technological weapons. It was a blood-thirsty competition. Citizens dedicated their lives to be faithful servers of the government as they shifted their homes to offices. Our technology was used to bend time and enabled us to merge our career and life. It was as if they were brainwashed by the way they followed the power-driven leaders.
Desolately, my poor father was a part of this irrational goal as a general of the military. Sometimes, I wouldn't see him for a week since he would be at the base camp whilst trying out the newest weapons and training the inexperienced soldiers how to handle them. Eventually, my mother and I got used to his absence from the dinner table every night, but my little sister would still cry at the sight of his empty chair.
Despite my father's role in this Tech Rush, our family wasn't really a part of this. This was nothing, but an imprudent plan of the government. They made promises to us that they couldn't keep: a better life that influenced us, my dad and many others to work for them without questioning as their lives were threatened with extreme public torture using venomous wires.
All the while, a black curtain was drawn on the eyes of my father and many others to blind them from seeing the hidden reality. The supreme powers persuaded innocents to serve as their slaves in achieving their ultimate goal. They lost their judgment as they developed weapons to kill men with no hesitation. It was an order. People lost their humanity to be a faithful dog to government and sadly my father was one of them.
