When I was a little girl, my mother told me to reach for the stars. I listened to every smart, soothing word that came out of her mouth. She was a beautiful, independent women. Though yet young, she was wise in many ways.

I had the best life a small 6 year old girl could possibly have. I had an amazing stay at home mom, and a hard working dad. When I was 7 years old, my mom had my little brother, Lucas. We were the perfect family.

This all changed on July 19, 2002. My dad was working the late shift at the office. Mom was out getting groceries, and it took a while longer than she expected. By now I was 12, and Lucas was 5. Mom went one the high way so she could get home. Traffic was very bad, and it started to storm. A flash flood had started.

The roads were slippery and cars started to ocasionaly swerving out of lanes. She was crossing a four way stop when the car in the other intersecting Kane tried to hit the brakes...but it was to late.

Mom was hit by the car, and then started a pile up. At least five cars were piled up. Dad got a call and he rushed home to get me and Lucas. By the time we got to the hospital she had already passed away.

I had cried my self to sleep for the next few months. None of my family was the same. The thought that I had only twelve years with the one person I loved the most haunted me. And the thought that Lucas only had 5 years with her haunted me even more.
