Welcome little child to the darkest fears inside
Come and join the fun, take a journey through the night
Watch the closet doors, or else the night consumes you more,
Taking every piece of innocence that never sees the light ...
Break My Mind played on my phone. I had it set on my alarm because, I mean, who could sleep with that playing? I sat up slowly, trying to clear my head enough to do the math problem on the screen. Thirty four minus seven equals....twenty seven! I typed my answer in, and the alarm finally shut off.
I sighed, tossing the phone on the bed and looking in my closet for something to wear. I silently cursed my grandfather, Logan, for giving us tails without the convenient fur covering he had. Instead, we had to use modified jeans, as in, jeans with a tail hole.
I got dressed in a pair of shorts, making the most of the warmer August weather, and a black t-shirt featuring the My Chemical Romance logo. Yes, I'm an emo kitten. deal with it. I looked in the mirror, making sure I didn't have inverted pockets or something, and I caught a smear on my face. I groaned, knowing it was dye.
Let me explain. I like to dye black streaks into my hair, because it better matches my white-with-black-smudges kitty parts. I have blonde hair, and my right eye is blue, while my left is brownish-green. A few well-placed dark streaks on the left side of my hair makes it look so much better.
I grabbed my bag and my phone, walking out to meet my mother. My father died just last year, which, I guess, is one reason I'm as dark as I am. Mom blew me a kiss, handing me a PopTart and gesturing at the door. Oh, that's another thing. My mother is mute, and doesn't know proper sign language. She saw my father killed at the hands of someone against GMO's, and hasn't spoken a word since.
I walk to school, as it's only a few blocks from my house. I actually sorta like it, at least, in warm weather, like now. Sometimes I walked my six year old twin siblings, but their classes started in September.
On the way, I met up with my cousins, Greg and Natalie. The two are twins, and, as you might have guessed by now, multiples run in our family. It's a cat thing. Anyways, Greg has brown hair and fur, and blue eyes, while Natalie has orange fur, red hair, and green eyes.Nobody quite knows how we have different fur colors than white, like Logan.
I'm actually technically a triplet, but my sisters were stillborn. That's off topic, though. "Hey, kits." I called teasingly to Greg and Nat. For some reason, we had all picked up on Warriors jargon.
"Hey! We're no kits!" Greg shot back, playfully. Natalie just shook her head, her ears laying back. She hated our play-fighting. "And thank StarClan for that!" Again, Warriors jargon. We're weird.
"Well, you two are acting like you are a couple of kits!" Natalie said, not quite hissing, but almost. "Come on, we'll be late for school!" And that's how the start of the first day of freshman year went. Too bad the rest didn't go as well.
