It never stops amazing me how people could say things like 'go kill yourself', 'eww! You're so far', or anything like that. What if they actually do go home and kill themselves? What do you know about there lives? How do you know that they're not coming home to an abusive parent? Or that they even have money to pay for a roof over their heads? Exactly, you don't, so stop it. What if they're going home to an empty house, or they cry themselves to sleep every night? I've done some studies, and they show that every 45 seconds someone tries to kill themselves, and every 18 minutes, someone succeeds. Each year, 35,000 people die from suicide, which just happens to be twice the amount of people who die from homicide. Also, 4,400 of those are from bullying. Because of all this, bullying mainly included, suicide is the third leading cause of death. And, every time a young person commits suicide, 100 others try to. More then 14% of high schoolers have considered it, and 7% have actually tried it. I'm not just telling you these statics for fun, but to let you know just how much your words actually do hurt. From personal experience of dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, and no sleep, I can tell you that it maybe hard for those of you who are suffering from those things, but it gets easier. And, if you EVER need anyone to talk to, I'll be here. I know it's tough right now, but you'll get through it. To those of you saying that you won't be able to do anything about it, even just smiling can make a world of a difference to someone. I'm only in eighth grade, but I've already talked people out of suicide multiple times, and people have told me that even just hugging them has made a huge difference in their day, or life.
Remember, "As you meet people, you get to choose whether or not you want to help them or hurt them. The choice is yours. I hope you make a good one."
I believe in you, even though I haven't met you, but I can't wait to.
There's already enough hate consuming our world. It's my dream to change that, so I'm going to at least try to make it happen.
