Hey so I had to write a short script for English script and this is what I could think of - I realise how weird I am ..yes....but that's not the point here!! Anyways..
(The story I’m about to write is about friendship. It’s about a young school girl, Lily and her friend Amy. Lily’s mother has recently passed away and is seeking comfort from Amy. The stage is set as a small country home – the fire is set, the lighting is dim – to imply the loneliness Lily is feeling. )
Lily sobs, head in palms.
Lily: (stutters) I don’t know what to do Amy, my mother meant everything to me (Lily looks Amy directly in the eyes, searching for some comforting and helpful advice)
Amy: Well, just before my grandma passed away, she told me that she would always be watching over me, even if I can’t see her – this helped me get it through. (Amy smiles comfortingly at Lily)
Lily: But she was a good person, Miss Dowd told us that bad things happen to bad people, and that bad people deserved to be punished. My mum wasn’t a bad person, she was my mum, and she most certainly did not deserve to be punished.
Amy: I agree with you Lily, but these things happen all the time, look at the bright side – Your mother died knowing she was loved by you and by many others. You were lucky, you got to say your goodbyes – not many people are lucky enough to have that opportunity.
Lily: (Finally regaining her ability to speak) I suppose, but I still do miss her terribly…I wish I could have one more day with her, that one day would mean the world to me.
Amy: Have you not been listening to me?! Your mother here, she’s in there (Points at Lily’s heart). Talk to her, out loud or simply in your mind – either way, she’ll be listening.
Lily: Do you really think so?
Amy: I do. I also think that you need to get a cup of hot chocolate with some mini marshmallows! (Pokes Lily in the side in a humorous manner)
Lily: Well…only if you’re having one! (Wipes the tears away from her face and smiles)
(Lily then mouths a ‘’thank-you’’)
Amy: You’re welcome. (Hugs Lily)
(The girls then walk over to the kitchen)
Lily: Amy, how come I can still talk to you but not my mum?
Silence
Lily: Amy, where are you? Amy?
Walks around the stage seeking her friend. Lily’s step- father Declan then walks on stage
Declan: Lily, are you okay? You look a little bit confused?
Lily runs over to her dad
Declan lifts Lily onto his knee while holding her close to him as she cries
Declan: Lily sweetheart, are you okay? Declan tries to move Lily’s hands from her face
Lily: Father, I could have sworn Amy was her and that I was talking with her…I could feel her hugging me; I could hear her talking to me.
Declan: Oh…uhm…Lily I guess that’s a normal part of the trauma, I know it’s hard to have lost your Mother and your best friend in a month, but I will be here to help you get through it. I loved your mother, I miss her a lot – but to try and remain positive, it is what your mother and Amy would have wanted.
Lily: I …But I…
Declan: It’s okay Lily. You needn’t talk if you don’t wish too. Come on over here and let’s watch a movie together – which one do you fancy?
Lily shrugs
Declan: Let’s watch the Princess and the Frog then, I know it’s your favourite.
Declan carries Lily over to the couch. Lily the puts her head on her father’s lap and watches the television as the movie plays. The audience can see Amy looking on from the Kitchen Window – tears in her eyes.
