"Hey mrs.Wilson. Is Miah home?" I heard a familiar voice coming from the door.
"Hi! Yes, she is." My mom said and turned around. "Miah! It's Nathaniel!"
I ran the stairs down to see my best friend with a huge grin on my face. "Hello Nat!" I said cheerfully smiling at him.
"Hi Mi! Guess what!" he said smiling as big as possible. He looked so excited. "My dad finished the treehouse this morning. We can finally go play there!"
"Wow! Can we go right now?" I asked getting equally excited. "Mom? Can I go? Pleease."
My mom smiled at us both us kids. "Sure, but be back for dinner and wear a coat, okay?"
"Yes! Thanks mommy!" I quickly grabbed my coat and sprinted out of the door. Me and my best friend, Nathaniel Bryant ran hand in hand to the other side of the street.
Miah
I was braiding my hair in front of a mirror on my dressing table. It was the first day of school after summer. After I was finished with my hair and minimum make-up, I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs to the kitchen. My mom was there with my little brother Henry eating breakfast. "Morning dear. There's some coffee left if you'd like some."
"Morning mom. Okay, thanks." I poured some coffee to a mug. I sat down next to Henry. "Are you excited for school?" I asked him.
"Yes! I'm a big boy now!" He said confidently.
"Yeah you are, aren't you." I said and sipped my coffee. I can't believe he's starting school already. My little baby brother. And me! I can't believe I'm a senior in high school!
"Are you going to ask Nat for a ride?"
I swallowed. My best friend.
"Ehh, I think I'll walk today. I mean it's only 15 minutes and the weather is really nice today." I said looking outside the window at his house.
"Oh, I see. Well tell him I said hi when you see him. I haven't seen him in a while." Mom said. I just nodded staring at my coffee. "But honey I think you better get going before you'll be late."
"You're right." I said standing up. I put my mug in the sink and then kissed my mom on the cheek. "Bye mom." I gave Henry a high five. "Have a good day at school, H."
"I will." Henry said smirking.
"Okay bye guys, love you." I said and put my backpack on my shoulder and went out of the door.
Here we go. Last year of high school. Hopefully it's going to be a good one.
Nathaniel
I woke up twenty minutes before my first class was about to start. I showered, changed my clothes and grabbed some food. Did all that in fifteen minutes. That's real talent.
"I'm going to school, bye Haley." I said as I was heading out the door.
"Bye Nat, don't get in trouble, okay!" I heard her say before the door closed.
I chuckled and got my car keys out of the pocket of my black jeans and opened the car doors. I hopped in and started driving to school.
"Yo, Bryant! What's up my man?" I heard Ryan's voice as soon as I got out of my car on the schools parking lot.
"Hey Ryan!" I greeted and locked my car. I started walking to the main entrance of the school where Ryan and the other guys were standing.
"How's Lauren, eh?" Dylan teased smirking and patted me on the back.
I rolled my eyes. "She's fine, but we're not together anymore." I answered. The bells rang and we started walking inside.
"What! Bro, since when? You seemed pretty cosy at the party last week. What happened? When did you two break up?" Ryan asked while we were walking.
"Uhh, actually right after the party..." I said.
Dylan laughed. "What, she didn't give you any?" He asked and pushed me with his shoulder.
"No! God, shut up! You know we weren't together just for the sake of it." I snapped annoyed. God, they can be such animals.
And you aren't?
"Sure, keep telling yourself that." Dylan chuckled.
I rolled my eyes. "Let's just not talk about it."
The hallway was full of people. We got to our homeroom and got in the classroom. I immediately saw her sitting there in the first row with her notebook and pens out. Precious. She had braided her hair like she does everyday. Ever since she was little. She looked up with her dark brown eyes and met my gaze. She smiled shyly and waved. I waved back with a smirk. I took a few steps to her direction to go sit on the seat next to her.
"Hey Bryant! Back of the class, right?" Ryan said raising an eyebrow.
"Uhh, yeah cool." I said and sat down at the back with the guys.
"Still friends with her, huh?" Ryan asked nodding to Miahs direction. What's that supposed to mean?
"With Miah? Uh, yeah, she's my best friend." I answered honestly.
Ryan looked amused. "Best friends, really?" he asked. I nodded. "I mean, I get it, man. She does have a nice ass and her lips-"
"Can you not?" I snapped furrowing my eyebrows. "Just, don't talk about her like that. We're best friends. That's it." I said sighing.
Ryan laughed. "Being a best friend doesn't make you blind, mate."
"Whatever, Ry. Just leave her alone, okay?" I said as the teacher walked in the room.
"You don't tell me what to do. I'm just enjoying the view." He said smirking. "For now." I elbowed him in the stomach. He has to be kidding me.
"Good morning, class!" The teacher greeted us in front of the class.
I eyed Ryan and he just chuckled. "Take a joke, Bryant."
