Her Nona had always told young Alisse Knight how her naiveness would get her in trouble some day. She should've listened to her, she should've been more cautious, smarter. Maybe then, everything would be different.

Alisse always had the habit of finding herself stuck in certain situations that the normal person wouldn't. Ever since she was little, her small mind made her do things that was deemed peculiar, and it's always caused her problems. She would run off to chase bunnies, in hopes of going to Wonderland. She would often get lost, and ask strangers for help, no matter how many times her father would scold her. She trusted people too much, far too much for a girl like her. She grew up reading books of witchcraft and historic wars, stories children would get nightmares from. But Alisse didn't. No, she was more afraid of her mother than anything else.

Growing up, she was made fun of and called weird, and she never really had any friends. Occasionally, a new kid would come to town and try to become her friend, but they never lasted and always went running away the moment poor Alisse did something unusual. And her looks didn't help this either. She was pale, so pale and she could never get tan in the summertime when they would go to the beach. Her eyes were cool, a light shade of blue that could practically blind anyone if they looked too close. And her hair was, like the rest of her, the lightest shade of blonde there was. She was the only person in her village to look so cold, almost like she had gotten frost burnt during the winter she was born in. Therefore, she was always an outcast.

Maybe that's why she found herself getting closer to the monster she was trapped with. Maybe that's why she didn't want to go home, she wanted to stay with him, rather he tortured her or not. Maybe that's why she trusted him so much, and found herself wanting him in every way possible.

Maybe if she wasn't so stupid, so naive and innocent, then she wouldn't be stuck in the predicament she currently was in.
