I'll try my best not to do to many author notes as I hate it when other people do - it really disrupts the flow but I just thought I'd warn you that the chapters will probably be extremely long but oh well longer chapter = more malec

Chapter 1

Alec POV

When Izzy had mentioned that the fastest way to find Magnus Bane High Warlock Of Brooklyn was to go to a party being held the following night I had sighed in frustration.
"As long as we are going for institute matters only" I'd had warned.
"Of course big brother" she'd replied a smile stretching across her face. "Whatever you say."
Now I was standing alone like an idiot, in a room full of downworlders desperately looking around for a familiar face. As if by a miracle I saw Jace's blond hair moving through the crowd. I tried battling my way towards him and bumped into a vampire which I regretted immediately.
"Watch where your going shadow hunter" he snarled, his protruding fangs sending shivers up my spine. I never could get used to the way vampires looked.
"I'm sorry" I muttered - I really didn't need any trouble right now.
"Aww the poor little shadow hunter's sorry" the vampire taunted, "I wonder how sorry you'll be when I tear your throat out."
He jumped at me only to stop a few inches away from my face, teeth bared. I looked around confused and noticed that Izzy, Clary and Jace were beside me and were all talking to me at once, but I wasn't bothered about that. No. I was more bothered about the gorgeous caramel skinned man walking towards them with blue sparks flying out of his hands into the vampires direction. He had deep brown eyes and it didn't take me long to realise that the man's pupils were slitted and cat like. His hair was black and had clearly taken a long time, to do. He was wearing several rings, eyeliner and a lot of glitter. He glanced in my direction, smiled and continued walking towards the vampire.
"Raphael? Really? Again?" he questioned. The vampire whom I now knew as Raphael looked down ashamed and his fangs disappeared.
"I'm sorry Magnus" he murmured clearly embarrassed at his own behaviour. Magnus seemed to take this as a sign that he could let the magic appearing from his palm cease, releasing Raphael from his frozen state.
"Magnus Bane" Izzy whispered snapping me out of my staring trance.
He must've heard her as he spun around facing us.
"I don't remember inviting any children of the Nephilim" he pondered stroking is stubbled chin which Alec found extremely attractive. "Oh well I muttered been drunk. I'll let you stay but only because of the hot one."
That's it I thought. There's no way he could be interested in me he's probably into one of my siblings. They were cute and cool and fun to hang out with.-
"Thank you" Jace, Izzy and Clary perked all at once. Yup and modest too.
Magnus chuckled and rolled his eyes. "I was talking about him the one with the blue eyes."
I looked up surprised. He couldn't be taking about me could he? I looked around just to make sure he wasn't talking about anyone behind me. Nope no one there.

Magnus POV
I was slouching on my chair when I saw Raphael fangs appear and knew something was up. I got up abruptly and made my way towards him just as he jumped at a black haired boy. I could only see the back of him however it didn't take a genius to see that he was a shadow hunter, the runes on his neck kind of gave it away. I held my hands out and magic flowed out of my palms making Raphael come to a halt a few inches from the boys face. When I'd finally made my way to the vampire, I sighed in annoyance. "Really Raphael, again?" I asked. This had been the third incident this week.
"Sorry Magnus" he mumbled in reply. I was just about to state that this couldn't happen again or I'd have to ban him when I heard someone whisper my name behind me. I turned and saw four shadow hunters. They all looked overly confident apart from the one whom I had lain eyes on earlier. He was stunning. He had black hair that looked like he ran his hands through it way too often and beautiful blue eyes that looked like they had the ocean trapped in them. He was dressed in all black and it really suited him.
"I don't remember inviting any children of the Nephilim" I thought aloud. " Oh well I must've been drunk. I'll let you stay but only because of the hot one."
"Thank you" said the three shadow hunters.
"I was talking about him the one with the blue eyes". I pointed out. Chuckling as he looked around him then realised he was the one I was talking about. I watched in fascination as his face gradually became beetroot red . God he was cute.

Alec POV
After several minutes of pestering and questions from Izzy carry and Jace they finally seemed to disperse into the crowd. I made my way to the bar where I ordered a coke. I sat sipping it and watched as everyone continued to party when I felt the presence of someone behind me. I turned to see Magnus Bane standing with a cocktail and smiling in my direction.
"I don't think we've been formally introduced he grinned stretching out a hand for me to shake. "I'm Magnus Bane and you are...?"
"I'm...um...Alec ...my names Alec well it's Alexander Lightwood but everyone calls me Alec" I stuttered God I was a mess.
"Well nice to meet you Alexander" he continued as if he hadn't noticed my stuttering.
"Yeah you too I guess" what was wrong with me? I sighed a blush creeping up my neck.
"Hey would you like to get out of here for a bit it's so loud I can hardly hear myself think" Magnus offered.
"Um...sure...if you want..."I got up and took out some money out to pay for my drink.
"Oh no its on me" he said slapping the money down on the counter before I could protest. Just as we were about to make our way out Izzy came running towards me.
"Alec we need to get home, mum and dad are back from Idris with max."
I turned to apologise to Magnus as my mother is not the type of person you'd want to keep waiting but he had already disappeared. I looked around in confusion for a while.
"What's wrong?" Izzy asked concerned.
"Nothing" I murmured however I couldn't help but feel disappointment well up inside of me.
As we made our way towards Clary and Jace who were waiting for us at the exit, someone bumped into my shoulder and their hand brushed against mine leaving something in my palms. I looked down to see a piece of paper. I opened it suspiciously to find a number 07523675908 followed by call me ;) M.B. I scrunched it up quickly and shoved it in my pocket to make sure no one saw it. Maybe this party wasn't such a bad idea after all.
