What turned out to be the most grateful thing that could ever happen to a human being, was only the beginning of a curse set upon her. She couldn't think straight, she couldn't forget. She couldn't swim, she couldn't float. She only knew what was wrong and never what was right. Those voices inside could only lead to her demise. She no longer walks down the steady road, but on the path to her end.

Laia lies on her bed. The smell of chocolate stains her bed sheets only faintly, letting her black hair loose on the pillow. The smell of her salty tears reminds you of the ocean. Her brown eyes bore with pain hidden behind a plain smile. Her soul was darker than the devil's humor. The broken pieces of her heart had burdened her for many years that she went on without even noticing it.

She walks down the halls only spotting the many faces she calls her friends. She's been here for 5 years of her life. School was partly a freedom from her household. 'Hey!' she turned to find a girl with short black hair, petite sized and a Korean backpack slung over her shoulder. A smile was plastered on her face. She thought about her name for awhile and remembered that her name was Samantha. 'Hey'. She replied half-heartedly with a fake smile plastered on her face.

Laia and Samantha had been going about their morning routine like normal. The bell rang, signaling their first lesson of the day, Science. Science had always fascinated her and she was really excellent in the field. Physics had been her all time favourite. She got her bags and headed for the labs. She was feeling particularly excited. A small genuine grin was spread on her lips.

She arrived at ME1 and sat down at her usual spot which was next to Samantha all the way in the back row. She had other people to sit with, but she felt a little bit better with Samantha. She was going to meet up with Jaclyn soon during lunch. Jaclyn was the 'tomboy' of the school. She had short black hair and was quite petite. Her small brown orbs and pale white skin gave her her Asian-like features. Laia was a rebel as well and instantly became friends.

Everything was going well until she got into a fight with Samantha, Amanda, Janice, Francine and Gloria. That day, she had cried on the side with Jaclyn. This was not a natural phenomenon for her. She normally hides her tears well. She thought no one else was there for her. She was all alone until a girl with medium length dark brown hair walked and saw her in the pool she was drowning in. She asked what was wrong. Laia didn't dare to move. Jaclyn told her to what had happened.

The girl nodded and smiled at Laia saying that everything was going to be ok and she left. Laia didn't believe her one bit but, she knew that she would be seeing more of her now. Déjavu right? But what she didn't know was that her whole life was about to change.

For,

Someone I care about dearly.
