Not Again

Freak: an individual who is envied because they are a fabulously unique individual that can kick ass and have no need or desire to follow the flock.

Chapter 1

Jenious' POV

I was walking home after dark even after my father had repeatedly told me not to. Remembering this, I couldn't help but feel sad at the thought of Dad. I replayed his death that had happened not so long ago in my head, hardly watching where I were going. A strong arm and hand pulled me into an alley and pinned me to the wall. I was face to face with Hugo, who was not only an Angel of Fear but Willam's croony as well. My father was an enemy of William's and he had been after me for years.

"Well, look who we have here. Didn't your father tell you never to walk around outside after dark, Miss Jenious?" he sneered into my face and I got a whiff of the alcohol he had been drinking earlier.

"It's none of your damn business, Hugo. For all you know, he could be around here somewhere."

"He's dead, sweetheart, and I have orders to kill you too." I tried to get away from him but he had a wicked blade in his hand and didn't hesitate to dig it into my side. As I felt the blade rip me apart, I slammed my hand into his nose, causing him to release me. I swept my leg and knocked him over, allowing me to put some distance between myself and the AF. Before he could injure me anymore, however, a shadow appeared and attacked him. I fell to the ground as my mind flared with pain. I looked down to see a massive amount of blood flowing from the wound in my side.

As the fight in front of me ended, I had lost enough blood to pass out. Before I could, however, the shadow who had saved me from death at Hugo's hands turned towards me and rushed to my side. They appeared to be trying to talk to me, but all I saw was a humongous humanoid figure kneel next to me. Then I blacked out, completely unaware of the conversation going on around me.

Jasion's POV

Liaison kneeled next to the girl as she passed out from blood loss. I pushed him aside and went to work on stopping the flow. We had seen Hugo pull her into the alley as we came out of a hidden door not fifteen feet away. We also heard the conversation that followed as well as saw Hugo stab her with the blade. Once I stopped the bleeding in her side, I scooped her up and carried her towards the door.

"Hey, where do you think you're taking that girl?! We know nothing about her!" Liaison didn't seem to notice the pool of blood on the cement that I have lifted her out of.

"Liaison! She's injured. I'm taking her back to the lair so I can fix her up. Besides, I have a feeling she's an orphan now." I turned towards my older companion, who took her from me and carried her through the door, down into the catacombs, and back to the lair with me and my other two companions following not far behind us. Once back at the lair, I took her away to the makeshift infirmary and set her on the cot we used for medical purposes. I cut the side of her shirt where she had been bleeding and started to stitch her up. While I was doing that, she mumbled something in her sleep. I slowed in the midst of another stitch and looked at her face to ensure that she was still unconscious.

"Jasion, you're flipping paranoid. And you're going insane from the demon that possessed you. Control your mind." I shook my head and took a deep breath to straighten my thoughts and steady myself. Only then did I notice the cat tail. Not knowing exactly where it came from, I reached for it and pulled on it gently. The girl's eyes shot open as she squeaked and the tail wrapped itself around her waist. She looked frantically around the room and spotted me standing next to the cot.

"What in Quitania? Who touched my tail?!" I chuckled at the way she was talking and the look on her face as she said it.

"I apologize, I had no idea that it was attached to you. I thought it was our feline friend's tail." She slowly looked around her and a look of confusion crossed her face just before rage took over. Before she could speak however, Liaison barged in and took control.
